  1. Hoping the cadets would come in for the kill. BD needs out of the top 3 just for one year would be nice. Cavaliers have a strong program and should be in the top 3 for sure. Crown is entertaining but cheesy to me. I think its a tad different for them since the past 2 years. Phantom is pretty classy! Bluecoats show is better than SCV. SCV just bores me. They are clean and easy to watch but i don't follow the show very well. Boston is fantastic, great colorguard moments, and just great music selections. love it! Blue Knights have great GE love the show as well. Madison has a great show but others have past them up in my opinion. Bluestars are so so. Not their best! =( Glassmen I was hoping would be the top 12 but I guess that's not always how it works.
  2. I love love love BK's show this year. Lots of GE and it stays on track as far as theme goes. The guard is clean as far as I've seen is recent shows before this week! One of my favorites this season!
  3. Yes there is a girl. Stephanie V. She marched Bluecoats Snareline last year and I believe she has marched RCC INDOOR.
  4. To follow on what you're saying... Having a good corps director is extremely important. You want a corps director who is going to care about each member enough to learn their name and know them as a person. Some corps directors don't even know some of the kids names and some know each member quite well. It goes along with being passionate about your job. Not even caring how much money you make or lose, it's just they people you're around and the experiences you give them and you experience yourself.
  5. Depending on your experience, and if you're a good marcher, keep your eyes open during the month of spring training/moveins. People always get hurt and sometimes corps run out of alternates. You could be their hero and fill a whole during spring training, and even on tour. Sometimes at shows they will mention a corps looking for someone to fill a hole or post somethign on FB page or even on a forum. Good luck!
  6. Curious to hear what others think of the color guards so far. Who has a difficult book and still clean so soon? Who will be on top by the end of the season? Who is your favorite this season? Who has surprised you?
  7. Where are the corps housing during the Akron show on July 7th?
  8. Blue Devils - Corps unis are deeply thought out resembling a music staff with the 5 lines, but they aren't easily seen from far away! DISLIKE Guard uniforms are very busy, and brightly colored as usual. Cavaliers - Guard uniforms are amphibious looking. the stilts that are added give it a unique look, but doesn't scream "Xtraordinary" to me! Bluecoats - Guard uniforms are very very busy. Looks as though some very unique fabrics are being used. Different look, but I think they may grow on me! Carolina Crown - Corps uniforms look a little funny especially short sleeves and cream colored. The mirrors that are shaped like stars in front of the plumes are nice. Guard uniforms are very edgy and are a fresh look for crown and are very appropriate for he concept. Cadets - Corps uniforms being split in color among the corps make me wonder how difficult drill must have been to write. They do some interesting things throughout the show using the uniforms. LIKE! Guard also being split as well, clearly shows the two sides. Simple yet easily showing the two sides. Well done! Phantom Regiment - Corps uniforms showing Juliet's family emblem keeps the story line strictly about Juliet and her side of the story. Interesting detail! Guard uniforms are elegant dark red velvet dresses. The rich fabric shows a similarity to the dresses worn in the setting of Romeo and Juliet! Santa Clara Vanguard - Guard uniforms are rather edgy, but aren't completely selling it to me right away! Blue Stars - Guard uniforms are also very different, especially for the Blue Stars. Not sure yet how to feel about them.
  9. Sound quality was horrible. I expected loud and complete sound as if i wee there. some minor problems after intermission before the Cadets took the field. No actual problems during any performances. Wishing the sound was better.
  10. Should have been 1.Cavaliers 2.Cadets 3.Crown 4.Bluecoats 5.Phantom 6. Blue Stars 7. Blue Devils 8. Santa Clara Vanguard
  11. Bluecoats used them this past summer in the closer. I have not spun them myself but had friends who have, and they weren't a big fan. If you're going to used them in anything similar to the drum corps heat, they tend to bend and bow. It's different, but I'm sure that's why its uncomfortable for some people.
  12. I would encourage her to watch guards live and on video(youtube). We learn a lot from watching...at least I do! Make friends in the activity. Practice practice practice! Hope this helps.
  13. I absolutely love the activity! I have marched '08, '09, '10'. Colorguard is my forte. =)
