  1. God, this show just get 600% better when Megan shows up. They need to shorten up the first half and lengthen the back half, fix the pacing issues, get to the good stuff quicker. Time's running out to fix it, though. They're still clean enough musically to stay ahead of Colts and be on the cinema broadcast, easily.
  2. C'mon, you GOTTA let the brass sound loose on "Que Sera, Sera!" It's sooooo restrained right now.
  3. Is it bad that I want MORE horror and terror out of that Oregon ending? Go that extra mile! MAKE. ME. SCARED!
  4. Tom Kershaw is a fantastic hire for them, and is definitely a big reason for that growth this year. Now if only they'd move in at Memorial Day...
  5. And Flo has perfectly placed their mics so that we at home barely get any battery or anything coming through the amps...
  6. It was the beautiful kind of awful. The one that sucked as it was happening, but was a hell of a story once you stepped off the field.
  7. The ice cream part is true... was one of my most anticipated moments on tour when I marched. I was also there that night in 2012 when Teal essentially folded the first time. A lot of us actually bought two ice creams to bring one to the members to calm them while everybody was freaking out. Certainly was one of the most surreal show atmospheres I had ever experienced.
  8. @kdaddy did a pretty good job addressing this already, but I will address your highlighted part... No, nowhere did I even suggest any of these things you are suggesting. And don't you DARE insinuate that I said that that was your "solution." I know you'd want to plan, but you are insisting on firing the director and BoD before beginning to plan. But if you clean out the house now without bringing someone in right away to remodel it, it's going to sit and decay. And if what people are saying about the corps is true, every second nobody is in this house fixing it up, the harder it will be to fix when someone finally DOES step in.
  9. You speak as if this whole conversation so far HAS been respectful and secretive. I'm sure CK and DP are very much aware of the situation and the animosity towards them. I agree that if a change IS made, it won't be until the end of August or early September at the earliest. As for Jim Mason, my thoughts on him have been well documented on here before. He's one of the most prolific program designers in DCI history, but by the end of his previous run at Madison it was clear that the activity's evolution and his visions were on slightly divergent paths. I love the guy, but I don't think he's the guy if you want Madison to take that big leap forward back into the Top 8.
  10. 1. That's not a straw man argument. In fact, you saying that @tesmusic said that no action can be taken until a plan is developed is a straw man argument itself. 2. So your solution is to fire everybody and then develop a plan? What happens to the Scouts in that time in between? Situations won't improve without a director or BoD steering the ship, that's for sure. 3. As for the Cadets, most of those alumni were already thinking forward and progressing with the activity. They understood and embraced evolution and change, making this season still competitive while embracing part of the past. Scouts alumni, on the other hand (or at least the most vocal ones) appear to be far, FAR less progressive and more resistant to evolution.
  11. My order, from most likely to least likely: 1. Boston 5th or higher (Very good chance they can catch/pass Crown) 2. Non-SCV/Bloo/BD medalist (A Cavies surge and any of those three faltering down the line makes this certainly plausible, even if unlikely) 3. Crossmen miss Finals (I just don't see it. I think there is a clear distinction between the 9-12 tier (Mand/PR/Stars/Xmen) and the 13-16 tier (Academy/Spirit/Madison/Colts)) 4. Mandarins beat Cadets (LOL)
  12. The last time that happened, 2014 happened and kicked this whole kerfluffle into high gear.
  13. HE LITERALLY SAID HE WANTED THE DRESS TO BE M O R E A T T R A C T I V E ! NOTHING about her, NOTHING about her playing, NOTHING about how she fits in the show. He wanted her to be MORE ATTRACTIVE. At why else would you make something more attractive than to derive more pleasure for audience members? THAT is objectification, and that is the kind of crap that needs to go away quickly, lest the next Hopkins continues to prey on victims without consequence.
  14. I direct you to the commenter just above you: How you word comments changes the context and meaning of what you're saying. Saying her outfit doesn't work in the context of the show is fine, saying she needs to be "more attractive" is not. I've blocked him, so it's not letting me quote his posts, but look back a few pages at your friend BigBadMadMan. Thank you for confirming the last part of my post, though. Absolute toxic nightmare.
  15. What the hell are you talking about? I wasn't replying to any of your comments. And the misogyny wasn't from calling the costume ugly, it was from a user asking for the single female member to be put into a more attractive outfit. Perpetuating the culture has nothing, I REPEAT NOTHING, to do with agreeing or disagreeing with others, but from treating females as objects, designed to be more attractive for the pleasure of others rather than being lifted on their own merits. Mad75's comment saying my initial comments were "triggered" and "knee-jerk" is a problem with we not because he disagrees with me, but that he believes that my concerns aren't valid.
  16. I feel like I've heard those narration samples somewhere before...?
  17. Not being the only backmarker in a show full of 15th or higher placing corps should give them some very honest scores this year, and I think their placement will improve as a result.
  18. If you look up the works of Piet Mondrian, it actually fits their concept perfectly. My only question is if they're gonna use the shakos or not. They had shakos at the 4th of July parade in Philly that were altered to fit the uniform design, but their run-through and pictures make it seem like they won't use them in the show itself...
