  1. I have moved on. Mexico lost to Colombia 2 to 0 last night. I will be wearing black, have ripped my shirt, and covered the mirrors. The the sub23 team lost to the US by the same. Congrats to the victors but alas estoy llorando. (I am crying.)
  2. If this show was presented to a survivor's group, they would undoubtedly support it. In general one of the points is to 'remember'. Don't sanitize history.
  3. I am glad that this is from the first show. I hope they stay strong and don't change the firing squad moments. Do you hear the crowd screaming when the last guy can't do it? It seems to be the biggest reaction to the whole show, more than any "trick". I am also glad because my memory thought the ending changed from this show to the regional, and I hope they go back to it. The difference was that at the regional the last lady gets up to approach the German to pick up his arm band. She should stay on the ground like this first version. She doesn't owe him any debt of gratitude as somewhat implied by her retrieval of the arm band. She should just leave it on the ground where it belongs like the piece of garbage it has become.
  4. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....please see my post under the Fantasia video string.....
  5. Being a big fan of Fantasia, I am very disappointed that the show is not on FanNetwork because I would like to watch it over and over and over.... However, I will say another issue from this regional is being overlooked due to this distraction. Am I the only one with an issue with Arcadia? I hate to use words like crime, stealing, plagiarism, etc. - so I won't. I'll leave those descriptions to other people. I do like their show for the same reasons I like the original version produced by Emerald Marquis way back when. I can see that Arcadia has a very talented staff (and kids), so I am perplexed as to why/how the staff came to the conclusion for this "idea" for this as a show. Seems like someone already had this idea 15 years ago (and was successful doing it). I don't see it as a "tribute" and I don't think they have improved upon the previous iteration, seems to me to just be "borrowed". okay, I did think of another issue about this regional - the write-up on the wgi website. Funny how the writer has wonderful descriptions and accolades for even the "less than" wonderful groups, but when he gets to Fantasia (who were clearly the stand-outs of the day) seems to have developed writer's block. This is not an exact transcript from the WGI website but the general idea - - "So and so colorguard" in Scholastic A - blah blah blah wonderful wonderful yadda yadda yadda for four sentences. Then the description for Fantasia - They entered the gym, did their show, and left. Seriously? ...or perhaps the staff of Fantasia requested that no description of their show be written, lest ye be stricken down by lightning.... Legal disclaimer - All of the preceding was my opinion only.
  6. Sorry, forgot to add that Fantasia set up too close to the front sideline and three Nazis nearly sat in my lap. Don't worry the T&P judge was sitting in a chair on the back sideline and probably didn't see. It was like Valhalla in 1983 when two people wanted to keep the form right and crossed over the back side in prelims thus getting 0.2 in deductions that put top hats in finals instead of them. Speaking of Valhalla, don't miss Ramona- riv #1. best guard tonight besides Fantasia.
  7. The last soldier stares down the last lady kneeling in front of him sobbing. After 5 shots and 5 murders, the silence is deafening and seems to last forever as his conscious slowly takes him over and he is unable to execute her. He breaks down sobbing and walks away. The show ends with him removing his red arm band and the crowd jumping to their feet. ( Can I get a "remember" or a "never again" from the Union fans that saw them before they took out the shouting in their silent sections?) Regarding Arcadia I don't want to be a bitter old timer ( too late) and this is my opinion only but I think it is too similar to Marquis in 1994. Similar staging and concept. Big drapes in white ( not maroon), Steve Reich type music ( if not actually), enter from left cross to right, run across back sideline behind the curtains to come back out from the left again and again. The only difference is that Marquis had equipment technique (sorry) that was well, classic EMass. At least Trumble is doing a Marquis "tribute" with a splash of Erre. Big difference IMO between a tribute and what i saw tonight. If it was meant to be a tribute it isn't coming out that way. Hey, Marc Sylvester, what do you think? I can't remember if this was your idea or denise's or dale's back in '94...
  8. Fantasia is all rifle and need to clean it up a bit. If you remember Unions holocaust show, this one is just as emotional. The guard actually picks up where fantasia left off the last time they were in Germany. Remember Marlene Dietrich standing at the end of the show when they won "a" class. Well she's standing there in the center of the floor. The guard is all portraying Nazis and there are a couple hiel Hitler salutes and goose stepping that gives you goose bumps. It just builds and builds with great equip and movement. The guard is dressed in all black with a red arm band. (i hope they don't get literal and put swastikas on them) Then all the sudden there are 7 Jewish ladies with white head scarf/shawls that stand out against the black Nazi uni's. They are abused by the Nazis and 1 disappears. Building to a climax the remaining six ladies are kneeling in front of the firing squad and in a ripple they are shot. (spoiler alert - don't read the next post)
  9. Fantasia is amazing! Just saw them tonight. Let me know if you want the details. The real crime was not when the Nazi firing squad killed 5 of 6 Jewish women, but when Arcadia performed. Wait 'til u see that. I guess cause I marched in Marquis it really offended me personally.
  10. This time I was there myself. Diamante pulled out of the local show. Really we paid $10 a ticket to see Willy Wonka? Actually there were two Willy Wonka shows. I like Lealta and everything, but you had to be there to see it. There was a major accident during one of their last tricks where the 2nd from the end rifle hooked it so badly he nearly took out the poor young lady on the end of the ripple. That poor girl was trying to do a turn around under her toss but the eminent threat of another rifle coming crashing down on her sent her into a panic. I think the boy made body contact with the girl, but her turn definitely was interrupted and her toss was so off the mark itself that she fell to the ground along with her own rifle. She attempted to retrieve her rifle, half on the floor herself, but she couldnt reach it, so when it bounced, it flew another 15 feet backwards and bounced again while she was still 1/2 splayed out on the floor herself....and then came the balloon flags, which actually made a lot of sense for their show. Well at least the balloons do not have helium anymore, as one did become dislodged and stayed down on the floor....anyone remember the Oddessy balloon from prelims in 1985 falling down onto the poor Guardsmen (Schaumburg not NY) during finals the next day. As exciting as the aforementioned incident was, I guess I did get my $10's worth, but probably not the way Lealta intended. Again let me reiterate - I love Lealta. It is nice to see a "positive" show instead of all the depressing love stories, witches, vampires, goblins, or whatever. (all spelling and grammatical errors are intentional as english is my second language)
  11. Thanks for the info! Good to know the truth, instead of speculation. Can't wait to see Corona again! ---one day colorguard will be so popular we will have our own arenas, sans basketball hoops. the basketball players will then have to ask us for their use and we will inspect their shoes to make sure they do not harm our floor!
  12. Update on Corona? WGASC schedule has been updated - looks like they are not taking a 3rd week off - Vegas, baby! Good luck to them in Henderson this weekend. I wish it were not so far - very interested to see how the show has evolved. Lots of love to both Fantasia and Corona!
  13. saw fantasia again last night at a bigger hs gym than the regional. 3rd time to see them this year. they were beyond awesome...can't understand the score of 83.5. seriously? i heard someone start chanting 90, 90, 90. couldn't agree more. .....oh and btw, why did corona pull out of the ceres regional and the week before pull out of the local wgasc show...and next week no show scheduled...3 weeks no shows....i smell a major re-write coming on?...i guess losing to fantasia at the regional is some kind of motivation.
