  4. Yes, you are correct! Carolina Gold's 2013 show is entitled "Mission: Accepted". All original music with a nod to those secret agent heroes we all adore. For decades, we have been captivated by the lives of the worlds most brilliant, daring and charismatic secret agents. Fast cars, alluring women and exotic locales serve as the backdrop while these agents fight to save the world from its most devious masterminds. With the coolest gadgets and unlimited resources these heroes live their lives putting the mission above all else. This season, sit back, order your martini (shaken not stirred), and enjoy the show because for Carolina Gold 2013; it is Mission: Accepted.
  5. Good luck to you! We have not been able to pull members from TN simply due to the distance we are from NC's western border (which is well more than a 4 hour drive). I have always been hopeful that someone would start up a Corps in TN. I just heard that a Carolina Gold/VK alum is working to get a DCA Corps started in New Orleans. Everything is very preliminary on that front, but it is VERY nice to see DCA expand in the Southeast. Our Board is certainly committed to a long-term approach to foster and encourage growth of the marching arts in the Southeast. We have some big plans for the future in order to help make that a reality in NC and I expect you will be hearing more from our organization on that front in the years to come. Admittedly, it has been somewhat of a challenge with the average southern citizen understanding what we do -especially since the activity does not have the historic roots in the southeast with churches and veterans associations (VFW, etc) unlike those organizations in the northeastern part of the US. Just know that the best way to approach that is to try to get your Corps' name out to the local media as often as you can. I have noticed that marching arts groups tend to forget to promote themselves to the "everyman" and instead internalize their attention. Failure to "toot your own horn" locally does your Corps and the activity a disservice. So, dont forget to do that! :) Best of luck!
  6. Thanks BigW, I just got finished watching a video clip of our opener from our ensemble rehearsal this past weekend ... and oh, are you guys gonna like this!
  7. Not to throw a monkey-wrench into Class A, but Carolina Gold is expecting to perform in OPEN CLASS in 2013. Please see our recent press release posted today. Our departure may certainly make finals competition in Class A very, very interesting. We wish all of our friends in Class A best of luck!!

  9. Not to worry "2B", Mr. Harper is correct! Carolina Gold is planning to attend several of our usual "haunts" this summer. -So please do not fear, all is quite well with us. Our hornline has been working diligently on show music and I know that it is sure to blow your socks off! We are EXTREMELY excited with the progress the members and staff have made thusfar!!! We have been reluctant to release our schedule because we have been working on something special for our members. -But please know that we will be seeing all of our friends both old and new on tour this summer!! ...and fear not, year after year, Carolina Gold is usually one of the last, if not THE last Corps to announce the show concept. We seem to like it that way. --But please rest assured that everyone will know what that is very, very soon. It will certainly be our mission to entertain you in 2013!! Best Regards to all!

  13. Carolina Gold does a "gold" ring with different colored beads for section and show year. You also get variations of gold and silver beads if you march 3 yrs, 5 yrs, and 10 yrs. We only have one member that has marched with us since our very first year in existence.
  14. I applaude those CV members being that dedicated to drive that distance to attend rehearsal. On our end, Carolina Gold routinely drives 400+ miles to compete. The shortest distance for us has been Nokesville, VA which was still 250 miles from Greensboro.
  15. What? No "Class A" love? --Maybe it's just too close to call right now. Good luck to all of our Class A buddies! We hope that everyone in Class A really gives the crowd a show! Dont miss it!
