  1. A late CONGRATULATIONS to the "SCOUT'S on another Title. TRB
  2. One by one they leave us. So as others have said. RIP Don. We will miss you.
  3. Here is a way to say "Thank You" to all you, Marched with or a Single Corps you were a member of. ALSO a way to tell us about you, Here is mine to start with. In 1962 the VFW that sponsored my first D&B Corps. (Asbury Park, NJ "Hurricanes".) They chartered a bus to take us to "The Preview of Champions" at Roosevelt Stadium, in Jersey City. The Contest was before NJ States. Many of the members of the Corps had never even seen a Contest. They thought it would be good for them to see how a full field show looked. Also how Corps "Entered" & Exited the stadium, See how Judging was done,ETC ,etc etc. Both our Horn Instructor and our Drill Instructor were members of the Hawthorne Cabs. BUT, it was this show that I decided that if I was ever good enough. I would be a "New York City SKYLINER". So un-like all my local Drum Corps, friends who went on years later to join the Cabs. NOT ME. I got the HONOR to march in competition with "NYC SKYLINERS." Those years that meant more to me than any of you will ever know. It hurts so bad to Not be able to go out with the Alumni Corps. How I wish I could be an Active part, I sit at my computer and have 4 photos on the wall next to my desk. An 8x10 of: St. Lucy's Cadets going off the line at the 1966 Dream. A Photo of me on the USS Ranger CVA 61 in the Gulf of Tonkin (Vietnam), And one of me as a Policeman on duty in Asbury Park, NJ. Then one of me in the "NY SKYLINERS Alumni" marching in NJ State Elks Parade in Wildwood, NJ. " Who could have known that would be the last time I would ever March again." (Because of Health). So too ALL of you I say. Play, March and Attend everything you can. Be it a practice, parade or Exhibition. You NEVER know. it could be your last. I miss all of you and being a part so much. Specially too Ray P., Rich E., Matt D., and Joe Chizik Jr . Tommy Barrett Alumni of: Asbury Park "Hurricanes" Neptune "Shoreliners" "Jersey Cyclones" Keyport "St. Lucy's Cadets" Newark "New York City "SKYLINERS" (BS) Golden Knights Sr. "Heat Wave of Orlando"
  4. Who can for get 1966 VFW and Big Tony at Roosevelt Stadium, was at it again. (Please someone I C Revries and Racine Scouts, yes them again. Please HELP answer.) The Big sit in at Finals !!!!
  5. I think Booing is/was at " Judges Scores " and " NOT " againest a Corps or members of Corps. I myself have been too many a show where it seemed to be more a matter of OPINION as to placement scores.
  6. I would like to remind people that New Jersey SCHOOL does not start school till the day after Labor Day. Need to find Sponsor to submit a Bid. Places like Rutgers and Princeton are good but then the College football problem kicks in. Maybe rotate between them. Clifton maybe? But there again it takes a GOOD BID to beat out Rochester (Rchacha is not my favorite. But they sure know how to win this Bid. AND. Know how to run things well).
  7. Yes, That is another problem with having 11th place Corps give that exhibition. Thought that a few times with Kilt's and Sun.
  8. Going to go ahead and say: Great Job Kevin. Thanks For a Great Evening of DCA Corps.
  9. Kevin; THANK YOU so much for a FANtastic morning of Alumni Drum Corps ! ! !
  10. Well Thank You Florida Sun. BUT !!! What a shame we do not have anyone Reporting from the show. The Best show of the season. Just a few weeks before Rochester and the DCA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. We use to have Reports that even showed: Photos, and telling us a little something about each Corps. Very sad for us that can not attend.
  11. Will there be a Tunnel Cam tonight ? ( I do wish to THANK DCI for that. It brought many fine meorories, for me about my competing days. Not too mention hearing thr corps on thr field ! ) Thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Yes Andy you are right,. I do not think History is a big thing anymore. Either here or in general, in the USA anymore. Sad as that may be. I was Lucky to see and hear many of the Big Names of the '50s bring forth the Drum and Bugle Corps, (St Vincent's Cadets, Blessed Sac., Garfield, Kevin's, Liberty Bell, Lamplighters, Jersey Joe's, Princemem, NYC Skyliners, Cab's, ETC.) Changes came, and Many of them(and us) left us through the years, Some kept on. But they and us, are not the same as they were. Still some keep up with the times and continue too win. But as the Bayonne Bridgemen made Famous : " Those Were The Day's My Friend. We Thought They Would Never End. " (well for Many of us they have,) Please those of you out there. Do Not take this wrong. What is done Today, is of the BEST Quality. Keep on doing YOUR THING. We of the late '50's, '60's '70's and early '80's DID. Now You have a NEW way. Good Luck to YOU, Enjoy.
  13. YES, yes, yes!!! Good to see a possible RETURN. Hope it can be done. GOOG LUCK!!!
  14. No I do not agree. I think we Deserve an Offical Answer from DCA. As to the takeing over of the thread. The people that went off subject can go to New threads about the things they are talking about. I mean no harm to them. The things they were talking about were very interesting and helpful. But like I said some New threads are NOW available for them.
  15. Yes. This is too IMPORTANT not to have an OFFICIAL answer. The EXPENSE to all in order to make any Plans for PEOPLE and CORPS can make a BIG difference in the FUTURE. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For Example. A very long time ago. The DCI Championships were out west, Denver or KC or something. The Championships were not on my (PBS) TV. So I drove about 75 miles to a place where it was on. Made Motel reservations and making SURE that that Motel would have a GOOD TV in the room. So there I was all set. The PBS station on. The Show(Contest) begins. I watch 1/2. The Intermission is on. The PBS Begging goes big time. I call in a $50.00 donation. The first Corps after the intermission, comes on. THEN they Switch to the Pennsylvania State Capital for Voting of some TAX law change VOTE. And never come back to the Championships. So, their I was sitting in a motel that I did not need to go to. FOOD, Money and Time wasted. NEEDLESS to say I DID not send that $50.00. About a month later I got a letter asking for the money. To which I sent them a Bill for the Motel, Gas, and about 1/2 the food money I spent. (Never did get a reply to that)
  16. Unless things have changed. St. Joe's, Bridgemen, Park City, BAC, Cab's, Reilly Raiders, Scout House, Optimists, ALL do FIELD shows. Then sometimes NY Sky, BSGK do. So it changes from year to Year.
  17. Erie now has the " Erie Thunderbirds " back, and Competing in DCA. They were a darn good Corps in RCA , and then DCA for many years.
  18. J. Johnson: One of the Best people I ever met in Drum Corps.
  19. Florida Sun: "Kidsgrove" is one word. But I think it is great that they come over. One day we may see BOTH "The Company" and "Kidsgrove". One of the things that might have held them back was the Electronics. "The Company" was/is more DCI type. This could also lead to the Corps from Netherlands coming over to DCA. They have some very good Corps and don't seem to make much progress in DCI.
