  1. OMG... I can't believe this thread is still going. This is starting to become the "i'm not shutting up until I receive satisfaction" show. Get each other's numbers and give it a break. Quit pointing at the parents and or staff. John and Mike have accepted blame. Please contact them one on one. Some of us would like to see Revolution go forward with or with out the current administration....and it probably will. I wish I had all day to chew this gum some more, but.... If you haven't receive the satisfaction you desire by tearing down the remnants of a beloved organization....not Administration....organization, then please by all means get your lawyers on the phone and roll the dice with them. Otherwise, for the kids AND parents who have decided to continue with or join the ranks, LET THIS DIE. 35K views on something like this. I THINK YOU GOT YOUR MESSAGE ACROSS. Shame on the administrators of this forum to allow the same, rehashed crap be posted in 21 pages of constant back and forth between parents and old staff members. Again, Revolution has a web site and contact lists. Try a different tact. I love Revolution...what it was and what it CAN be. There are others out there like me. All you're doing now is stepping on anything good that came out of the organization. (members and staffs good memories) Throw your arrows now. You WON'T get the satisfaction of an "ouch" from me. Good Luck to Ya'll. May your complaints be fruitful.
  2. Monk, I think everyone's said what needs to be said. DCI is aware of the situation. I would like to see everyone come out of this clean, but it's not going to happen. I have a love for the Revolution YPA, the organization, but I don't see this as being productive or informative anymore. I'm sure the remaining staff is doing what they can to salvage the organization or making plans for it's dissolution. No more facts are being offered now nor are valid rebuttals. Although, events that transpired are important and require resolution, this forum is further marring any positive experiences or memories the members may have had. I'm making a plea for all who have greviances to handle the rest through Dan Acheson at DCI and John Rodriguez and NOT in this forum. If I were a member and was reading this after marching a, otherwise, successful tour, it would rip my heart out. I have not been on the staff for years, but I try to stay close, because I LOVE DRUM CORPS. I would hope to see this resolved, and see Revolution come up with a "Resolution." I would like to see Revolution continue....just a lot cleaner on and off the field. lol Heck, we should rename the corps "Phoenix." It burns up,...hopefully it will rise from the ashes again. Much Love to Ya'll Doug McCarroll Revo Dir, 2001-2002
  3. I fixed it. It's an understandable mistake, but my memories and continued friendships from that time is good enough for me. I wouldn't have had that opportunity if it wasn't for John. That's why I say it's hard to fathom knowing them for as long as I have.
  4. Thanks....I hope it's not true. Curious on the Wikipedia. Anywho, I'm not here to defend my credentials, but I take that up with them once this is resolved.
  5. NOT a true statement (2001). Yes, the original tour was extended, but only after the members, staff, AND parents agreed. Revolution NEVER went without food during that or the 2002 tour. We actually ended up feeding other corps; who ironically enough, were going through problems relative to the topic. I'm not defending or attacking issues that have transpired this week; however, let's not jump to judgment or start tearing apart an organization without hearing ALL facts. I agree the corps has been through some visible bumps in the past, but John and Mike have given their hearts to these kids and the program. I could not imagine them knowingly putting members in harms way. I'm sure an explanation will be provided and I am hopeful that DCI and other interested parties will discover the facts and act accordingly. It would be a shame to lose that program. It had a lot of potential. Doug McCarroll Revolution Director 2001-2002
  6. As a Bluecoats alum, It just kills me to hear "Brass line is doing a nice job of "supporting" the electronics. Nothing I can do but, hate electronics. UGH! Doug McCarroll
  7. Nah...I wasn't inferring that they were comparable. I haven't seen enough smaller corps this year to qualify that.
  8. Great discussion!!!! Another example, sorry to seem self serving even though I'm not their staff anymore...Revolution 2002. Unfortunately, there have been examples when that has not happened. I hope the judges are being reminded of the size factor in their pre-season training.
  9. Thank you for posting this positive review. When the kids are on tour, they DO have their iPhones with them. It kinda kills their spirit when they read anything overtly negative in any size corps (large or small) . I hope that others keep that in mind as the season progresses. Doug
  10. I'm all about quality over quantity and have marched/staffed smaller programs that have taken out the "big boys" (band & corps). I understand the smaller corps flaws are more exposed since there's less to watch, but the fluctuation in scores this week, especially in Cali, are making me wonder. It's almost as if the smaller corps have to be almost #### clean to be able to compete. Larger programs tend to be able to hide the dirt. Makes sense, but then this takes me back to the numbers.
  11. Should size of corps be a consideration among judges? It's not on the sheets yet it seems when smaller corps put on an equally well executed good show as the ones with 130 members, they can't pull the scores. Are they inadvertently being discriminated against due to size? Should DCI revisit the number requirement for Open Class? Will having the SAME corps winning each year due to the fact that they carry the same numbers as a World sized corps hurt the smaller programs? Just questions that have come to mind after seeing a couple shows where these issues seemed to be a factor? Discuss. Doug
