  1. As someone who only uses the forums for show reviews and live scores, I felt the need to actually reply to this one. I'm a brass alumni from a championship corps and I can say without any doubt whatsoever, that I could have effectively performed in any of the top 5 corps at that time. The talent levels in the top corps are for the most part dead on. If the Blue Devils were given the exact same music score and drill from Crown's show (guard and percussion books too), and given from January to August to clean it up for finals, they would certainly be able to effectively do so. Would it win? Who knows. Would the horn line be able to give you goosebumps and make you scream "holy sh%t that was a sick mellophone lick!" ? Absolutely...
  2. WOW!! That certainly brings back some memories. Makes me wish I could do it all over again.
  3. For a second there I thought they were going to. Ohhhhh well
  4. Stop blaming this on demons. I'm tired of all the hating on this board. Oh, and let's get this straight: the Cadets contra who fell and recovered didn't "squeeze" back into the line. I read the other thread. Didn't you? He was clearly "slotted" into the line by the judges. ROTFLMBO!!! Just perfect! And speaking of judges: I was shocked to see that they actually run around on that field. Get them off the field, because fast movements, as well as simultaneous movement and talking into their tri-corders, make me very nervous. They should slot themselves into some chairs. LOL! I love sarcasm, as it's the highest form of humor (and you do it well) but unfortunately for this last sarcastic bit, I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT! What's that tell you about me? It's the 21st century. Get the judges off the field!!! [/quote I agree about the judges. I nailed the drum judge on my finals run in 2000. His back was turned to me and I backed right into him (marching pretty fast too). I managed to stay on my feet but took a nice shot from my mouthpiece. TOTALLY ruined my finals run!!
  5. My jaw definitely dropped while I was watching it. And to think that it was an early season show. So many bad things could have happened (and that was a year that BD moved just as much as anyone else). Its amazing that no one got hurt!
  6. I came across the 1999 Blue Devils "lights out" performance that took place early that season. I began following drum corps in 97' and marched in 2000. Not once did I ever hear about that performance. That was hands down one of the most impressive things I have ever seen! If you havent seen it I suggest checking it out. Does anyone know if anything like that has happened before?

Im must say that I am VERY satisfied with 2011. This is the first year since the 90's that I can honestly say that I enjoyed just about every show (Even BD ). If Cadets have 3 solid runs then I really cant see them not taking home the title. I have been wrong many times before though.
  8. Hello DCP! Just figured my first post should me introducing myself. I marched mellophone with the Cadets in 2000 (still the best summer of my life). Most of my friends have the slightest idea of what drum corps is so I've pretty much grown tired of not having anyone to talk about the activity with so here I am.
  9. Desperately seeking 2-4 tickets to the NightBeat show in South Carolina on August 31st . Please Help!!
