  1. Just watched Allentown. All I can say is Wow!!!! I am so glad that the crowd showed you the love that I couldn't since I wasn't there but it didn't prevent me from clapping. Good Luck in Indy!
  2. Yes they do. It is really a cool to see the show from 2 different points of view.
  3. As a former Troop parent, this explains my daughter's reasoning for marching Troop in 2008, 2009, and aging out in 2011 with Troop. She knew that marching Troop in her age out year wasn't a guarantee to march Saturday night in Indy but she wouldn't even think of jumping corps and marching Crown in 2011. (We are from NC and her peers in her World Class Winterguard were trying very hard to get her to march Crown with them). She loved the experience that she had with the Troop family and wouldn't have it any other way. As a parent, I loved the way they took care of her through her various injuries and needless to say the bus accident. This is a first class organization and I feel that the people who are running it are trying to return it to the corps many of you remember.
  4. I think you believe I want "plot" in my drum corps. That was for the movie reference. Actually, I believe "plot" holds a corps back sometimes if they don't do it well. I never said that there wasn't room for what BD does, but for me the variety comes in the music and the arrangement of the music and how the corps uses the music to evoke emotion from the audience (being me). I like innovation in music more than not to recognize a drum corps show from a "cirque" show. I like company fronts when effectively used. I like forms that are unique to music performed. I like the guard to be part of the performance and not the focus and I am a guard parent. Not really a prop person unless used like BD did last year. Their props totally enhanced their show. I don't necessarily need a theme or story in a show if the music is done well. These are the things that I like. BD is an awesome and amazing drum corps and I do appreciate their talent but again, I don't get my "in your face" drum corps which I prefer. I think I should be able to have that opinion of what I like my drum corps experience to be. That's what makes it enjoyable for this fan.
  5. Excuse me...I was having a mature discussion, trying not to say anything to offend. I was asked a question and I answered. I didn't attack and neither should you. I will just have to strike it up to DCP.
  6. Yes, there are some but I guess it is just preference...I would like to enjoy the whole drum corps competition, not just parts of it...much like I wish to enjoy the whole movie not just the CGI effects. There has to be a plot also.
  7. If I wanted High Art, I would go to the symphony...I want in your face, blow me away, get me out of my seat and cheering DRUM CORPS! Is that too much to ask?
