I used a Schilke 13a4a for the last two years with my high school band, but im getting away from that. It only added a note maybe two on a good day. Plus it had a bad tone, and Iv found that just playing with the right mindset can get me as high as I need for any given piece. High notes for me are mostly mental and not physical. But in pep band ill get tired and pop it back in to hammer out some high notes.

Cadets mellos always blow me away.

I try to do at least an hour independantly every day. But I usually have something conflicting once a week at least.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys. Playing low notes really did help just as much if not more than hammering out high notes. My tone is also drastically improving in the upper register. ####, I just got a years worth of lessons for free in this thread :P . Thanks again.

I have been practicing on range about 2:30 - 3:00 a day all this week. But since Tuesday my range has slowly gotten worse. Could it be that I am wearing my chops out by practicing high notes too much? Should I take a day off before my corps camp this weekend?

2001 is my favorite sop soloist. Playing the counter melody over the rest of the section right before the ballad groove. Gets me every time.

Keep them. My gosh, its not like they are actually chucking a sharp metal sword or a loaded shootable rifle for God's sake. If the arguement was that little kids may see it and try to imitate it with real weapons, then I see two problems here. The little kid needs to be taken away from their family because the parents arent responsible enough to keep loaded guns and real swords out of the kids reach. And two, doesnt the military whirl guns around and shoot them in the air for show as well?

I absolutley loved Four Corners, Juxtapreformance, and New Era Metropolis. But by the smallest margin I would have to say that Four Corners was my favorite.

I tried Waterworks at home this week and noticed a huge difference imediatly, however the results were only temporary.

I believe the reasons behind reverse lead pipes are that there is not anything to stop the air since the pipe continues inside the tuning slide.
