Watching at the theater last week, I found myself focusing on the narrator because of all of his entrances and exits. Stage Right, Stage Left, Middle. . .. Up, Down, Up, Down. . . . .And then there were his arm movements. . . . And the book? Why? . . . . I found it very distracting. I would much rather watch the corps, but I found myself watching him way too much.
To me, it did NOT seem like 90% of the time he wasn't speaking (as someone said earlier). He seemed TO ME to be the focus of the show.
Blame me for not being able to NOT look at him, but that's the way it was.
