  1. Fortissimo Regiment takes its first win in Salzburg! They put on a killer show!
  2. I'm proud to announce that OSDC's Class A corps, The Analog Corps, has won its first event in Utica! The crowd particularly enjoyed the music selections. FR and TOS still have work to do before they can hope for a win (though they have come close), but they are improving!
  3. Is there a reason that on the events from the 14th, some or all corps as listed twice, sometimes non-sequentially? Either way, I'm pretty pleased with the scores so far actually, the Fortissimo Regiment in particular has done well for a new corps.
  4. FORTISSIMO REGIMENT (World Class) DCPI SEASON XVII PROGRAM: Featuring selections from the following works and operas of Giuseppe Verdi: Requiem Il trovatore Nabucco La Forza del Destino THE OLD SCHOOL (Open Class) DCPI SEASON XVII PROGRAM: Featuring charts made famous by Maynard Ferguson and his orchestra: Gospel John La Fiesta Birdland Give It One Chameleon THE ANALOG CORPS (Class A) DCPI SEASON XVII PROGRAM: Featuring tracks from The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire
  5. Whoops, I didn't realize I had neglected to fill out the tour for the Analog Corps. It's done now, so all three of my corps should be good!
  6. I'm going to try this for the first time this season, it looks like a lot of fun! Hopefully I'll do everything correctly and not mess anything up... The Old School Drum & Bugle Corps Company (OSDC) will be fielding the following three corps for the 17th DCPI season: Corps Name: Fortissimo Regiment Corps Division (World, Open, Class A): World Corps Hometown and Region: Indianapolis, IN; Midwest www.drumcorpsfantasy.com username: Driving Park Homeshow site and venue request: Lucas Oil Stadium Corps Name: The Old School Corps Division (World, Open, Class A): Open Corps Hometown and Region: Fairfax, VA; Northeast? www.drumcorpsfantasy.com username: Driving Park Homeshow site and venue request: n/a Corps Name: The Analog Corps Corps Division (World, Open, Class A): Class A Corps Hometown and Region: Chesapeake, VA; Southeast? www.drumcorpsfantasy.com username: Driving Park Homeshow site and venue request: n/a Looking forward to a fun season!
  7. I mean if I was fielding a corps I wouldn't use them (although my A Class fantasy corps does, just because); I was just wondering if you COULD if you were one of those corps that wanted every timbre available. For the record, euphonium is one of my primary instruments so I'm not just trying to get trombones in to DCI corps. If I had my way, DCI wouldn't even be using Bbs... Well marching trombones/flugelbones, although designed to sound like a slide trombone, fail to do so the same as valve trombones do. They're more mellow than a slide trombone (but less than a marching baritone, for example), which is why slide trombonists generally stay away from them and you don't see any professional valve trombonists floating around (not that I know of anyway), except for the occasional novelty double. In my opinion they sound more like a light baritone horn.
  8. Hi everyone, I know that under the current rules the use of trombones is prohibited in DCI competition, which I agree with completely because the slide would be too ungainly for the complex shows, and even valve trombones still have that section in front of the bell. But what about marching trombones like this one or this one? They're just as bell front as marching baritones and euphoniums, just with a small bore trombone's bore and large bore trombone's bell size (.500" and 8.5", respectively). Theoretically if a corps wanted tenor, baritone AND bass voicings (trombone, baritone, euph) to supplement the contra line they could use these, couldn't they? Then add the three different alto voicings (flugel, mellophone and French horn) to the sopranos (and maybe even a picc line) and you'd have the ultimate brass line!
  9. Hi everyone, just popping in to say hello! I've been lurking for a few days now and decided to join once I found out about the DCPI fantasy marching league - I definitely hope to participate starting the 17th season! I've already made a basic website for my 3 corps and everything! See you around the forums!
