  1. How did I miss the point? I applaud the efforts of anyone that donates or sponsors marching members. But, to suggest that every penny given to sponsor a member, and not a penny goes towards misc operating expenses is a broad stretch. Unless all $4500 was given to the member, to be used at their discretion, then some of that donation surely went to cover other costs.
  2. How is that $4500 divided up in the financials? Transportation - food - instruments - uniforms - and salaries for the staff and management. Don't be lulled into thinking that 100% of your generous donation was not used where needed.
  3. This was done at the 2012 reunion where hundreds of alumni were present. So how can you claim that you didn't know what was going on?
  4. Where did Denise take additional actions? Her name is not on the letters that were posted earlier. She did not solicit and is not aware of the actions by the people to support her and her sister. The letter was vetted by several attorneys that practice non-profit law, Denise is not, or, was not aware of the letter. On the back of the letter, was Denise's response to her sister's bragging (to a private FB group), bragging how they won the appeal. And it was not because she wanted to sue - she sued because her father, told her and her alone to save the corps name. Does anyone believe that in his last hours on earth, as he spoke to each child privately, the he picked Patty and told her to save the name? Denise responded on the foundation page to inform the supporters of the foundation what had been happening for the past 4 years. It was apparently kept from the supporters, some of which were or are friends with the entire family. The jury awarded compensation for violating the injunction to not use the name 27th Lancers, of about $5000. The judge took it upon herself to award almost $30,000 for a hotel contract for a reunion in 2017 that was never held. The judge looked at the contract and said yes with no proof of ever having paid the hotel a penny. Patty tried to host a celebration, but everyone abandoned her and she had no choice but to cancel. She never paid the hotel a penny. And there is about $58000 in legal fees. Add in, accrued interest that started the day the first judgment was handed down, plus a few years of non-contact, no court in session time, plus interest accruing during the appeal time - you have over $100,000.
  5. Actually - the 2012 reunion was a great success. Friday evening was an impromptu party, while Saturday evening was the more formal sit down dinner. There were hundreds of posters lining the celebration and alumni from every year were present. Patty encouraged the Foundation to set up an area to promote the Foundation. On Saturday evening, there was a group that got special recognition, people that Patty said her father wanted to acknowledge, and Patty gave the Foundation a check for $500 to help jump start the scholarship fund. The reunion in 2014 was not well attended.
  6. Yes I do - but let's see what happens when the funds are paid out. Will it get as much mileage here as the lawsuit?
  7. The Foundation fund balance was continuing to grow, hoping to get to the 60k figure and then turn the assets over to the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, an agency that manages portfolios like this. They would continue to give (2) scholarships in perpetuity. This is what happened to the Zingali Scholarship fund. https://glcfoundation.org/nonprofits/
  8. No - this is the funniest post. The brother thinks his sister is going to split the 87k with him since he was joined in the lawsuit - wait until she cuts him out of the pay day.
  9. This is the funniest post ever. No one forced anyone to donate, but wait, if their donations are returned, will everyone file an amended tax return for the donations they wrote off?
  10. I was a frequent contributor years ago when all forums were more civil. I am not an "outsider" - having marched DCI in the early 70's and taught and judged through 2014. I used a different handle on DCP and tried to "correct" false statements or half-truths that were posted about 27th.
  11. I am only trying to defend the legacy of George B and Patsy - who were surrogate parents to hundreds of kids. They gave more and more and asked for nothing in return. Patty is tarnishing the legacy of their efforts by making accusations that people are too quick to believe, without asking for proof of her statements. Denise and Janine are working tirelessly to perpetuate the memory of their parents, without any support from their siblings. I would think the siblings would want to take advantage of all the work done by Denise and Janine?
  12. In your summary - that would include the directors of every corps that made finals and then some.
