  1. I really hope the lines are moving at the gate today. Find out soon
  2. It is a free country. When kids join the Blue devils they know what they're getting into. People who paid good money to support DCI should not feel ashamed of anything. Some people don't give the 6-year-olds at the church Christmas. Play a standing! Ovation. Doesn't mean they hate the kids you know the Blue devils are going to win most years so really you should only give them a standing ovation if that show is particularly better than previous shows. And really are we applauding the kids or are we applauding the show designers that design the show?
  3. Just had one of those weird drum core things. Rain started falling down and tandem regiment, drum line and Boston Color guard all ran into the bathroom to get out of the rain. Boston was channing some umbrella song. The PR people were looking at them like they were out of their mind but it was very crowd in that bathroom
  4. Actually phantom regiment has 14 but that doesn't really affect the colts
  5. Like the colts this year. Better than last year. I think it's just the competition is tougher this year. Hard to get a really good read on the show from the end zone
  6. Just wanted to say the Lawrence show was not the best performance for the regiment. The wind protocols were in effect and it looked like some people weren't exactly sure what to do because of the wind and there was a little hesitation. Also the new closer may have still needed a little work. But rest assured tonight's performance will be totally awesome. Let's just hope there's no wind tonight the current score and position is just an outlier and does not truly reflect what this group is all about
  7. Yeah the weather kept PR from using the tarps. Also the flag goes at the end stayed grounded because of the wind and that was a good car
  8. Yes I watched last night's PR show from the top row of a pretty high stadium at the 50 and PR was electric. As high up as I was. They were still very loud. At Murfreesboro they did not seem to have the full luster. I watched the alamodome from the sidelines and that was magic, but I think last night's showing Huntington hit another high note for the core. They would jam in last night. One of the best things was all the kids from the open class cores that had performed were there to watch and we're going nuts cheering them on. It was good to see the younger kids. So excited about seeing drum car.
  9. Pretty good night, I don't think anyone had an off night, everyone is going full steam into the Dome on Sat, should be exciting.
  10. Really need to see bluecoats live for me to get a good read on that xhow. They were my favorite last year, but they havn't really won me over yet this year.
  11. I guess Scott is back helping PR since spirit is in Austin
  12. I hated those tarps when we were putting them together a month ago. I thought the time to put them down and take them up would kill our time. But seeing them from the hi cam today they really do add a lot to the show.
  13. There is an extreme heat advisory in effect for broken arrow until 9pm. I think they may have gotten to the show site and it was just too hot and no shade for warm ups. PR was scheduled for earlier than 9pm while the weather advisory was in effect.
  14. This will be my first show watching on Flo this season, I have seen about 10 shows live, but now I can relax in my ac drink the beverage of my choice and make rash judgements about corps based on what Flo decides to show me. I am hoping PR really puts in a good showing tonight
  15. Actually I have to go down 10 rows to get to the entrance to the concourse. good is that there will be no one behind me, but could be echo prone, there is something about being in the middle of the crowd but it may be weird only having people in front of you
  16. I just looked up my tickets, I am in the last row of section 238 right in front of aa suite. It will either be awesome or horrible, but not b
  17. I don't really know the details of what happened here, but I will give my opinion which none of you should really pay attention too, but hey, everyone else is doing it. It appears that it was the majority of the group engaged in inappropriate conduct. If it were one or two members sneaking some booze that might not be on the director, but when it is a large group it is a part of the allowed culture. If I were somewhere in the hiring authority at SCV I would terminate her employment just to set a standard that if a staff member were to allow this type of thing to happen at SCV they would be out. Hopefully this would encourage people to uphold the integrity of the corps.
  18. Interesting Blue Devils go to Wyoming, Troopers go from Wyoming to Indiana
  19. My one quirk with the corps I was working with last year was that after finals there is no housing for the corps so at 11pm they are set loose to find a hotel, go with their parent or make their way to the airport. Most of them were there in the morning for the banquet, but I have no idea where they spent the night.
  20. I need to book I was waiting for the corps to announce their blocks, but I may have missed it
  21. "The 2016 race saw fewer than 50,000 people in attendance, leaving nearly 200,000 empty seats." I don't follow nascar that closely anymore, but reading that surprised me quite a bit. Though even a small crowd there could be a drain on hotel rooms.
  22. I have always been a fan of National Anthem and after its interesting performance in Indy it is looking for a comeback
  23. The Brass sounded great this week. The battery also seemed a bit more aggressive so it looks like it will be a good year on the musical side. They also have a female snare drummer which is a nice add. The drummers seem pretty excited about the new percussion staff. The guard also likes the new staff there. The question mark for me is the Guard, they looked really young to me. However these are the first few days and with a new staff andit is difficult to get a good read, but there is a lot of enthusiasm there. They decided to let recent Alumni volunteer and that provided some great and very helpful assistance on the food truck and in the sewing. One change that was made from tradition was putting the silverware at the end of the chow line instead of at the beginning at the urging of members, who seemed to like that change.
