  4. It is with much regret to announce the Grenadiers will be not taking the field of competition for the upcoming 2011 season. There are many contributing factors many of which have been discussed at length and not unfamiliar to our brothers and sisters in our beloved activity. There is however a strong nucleus of members willing to press forward and keep the corps actively involved on a number of fronts. A bright determined group to say the least.

Thanks to DCA for the venue to participate and hopefully the Yellow Red and Black will be back on the field in the near future.

    Sincerely Don

  5. Lansing did great work on the road with Pioneer as well.

    Donny

Lansing has been a great addition to the brass staff and we are happy he has taken on the Majors position. The show is agressive and exciting with the brass numbers averaging better than they have for years. Still looking for a few players for the battery which is rare. We could use another snare and 2 tenors, bass is full. Anyone who knows our percussion section over the years it always has had a consistent track record of excellence. All due to Scott Atkins and his dedicated support staff.

    Cheers DLD

  7. I spoke with Box 5 today and they are close to shipping... probably later next week. Anxious to see them myself... after the quality of the CD's - exciting and very encouraging.

Hey Tom really on edge with the whole Box 5 experience. Numerous phone calls and follow up and still no DVD's from an event that happened 6 months ago? Great Quality....customer service?

    Don

  8.

Not sure how you will top "Stormworks" but I am sure you will...also hard to beat all the earlier productions..Mangione...Maynard...Metheny...Gershwin...etc..etc.....waiting not so patiently for the production info for 2011... HAHHA!! Have a cool Christmas parade season!! BRRRRRRRR!!!:shutup:

So close and just like the membership waiting for the annoucement. I know the concept has me all pumped up! I noticed several flasks were available for medicinal purposes only to ward off the evil parade frostbite.

  9. :spitting::worthy:

actually it is Brenda's banana bread and chocolate chip cookies........ :mat::mat: oh and the after hour blender drinks!!

The cookies and chicken wraps were great and so was the corps. I was really pleased with turnout and the parade in Kingston Saturday night. Good camp and room to grow so if you are interested in playing for a great corps even though I am biased come on up. Sounds like the "Price is Right". We would also like to extend a big welcome to Lansing Dimon who is part of this years brass staff. Stay tuned for release of this years production due shortly on a computer near you.

  10. I just Google Mapped "Main St, Odessa, ON K0H 2H0" near Kingston Ontario.

It looks like it is the center of the Universe --Circled by Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Syracuse......

I can certainly make it!! Worth the trip!! It is like a Dream Drum Corps Fantasy Weekend!

Got to be there, got to be there.

Just minutes off Highway 401 East or West. Remember to turn left coming off the Ivy Lea Bridge coming from the USA. We have had had folks turn right(east) end up in Brcokville wondering what the heck happened. It could be worse eh.. could be Cornwall. Sorry Tony. lol

  11. Grenadiers are preparing for another exciting and challenging campaign. All sections are looking to build on last years success. Team Yellow is waiting are you ready?

Stayed tuned for the 2011 release of this years production.

  13. Thinking back over the past five or six years, I can't recall a single alumni corps that doesn't have an honor guard on the field. And some of them are written into the drill quite effectively - Scount House being one good example.

As for competing corps, there are quite a few that don't use honor guards during the season. However, many/most of them put one together for Finals.

If you recall, a few years ago the Renegades "advertised" here on DCP to put one together for finals. And I recall CorpsVets using a group of folks from another corps for an honor guard at Finals in Scranton. And I seem to recall MBI putting one together for the Scranton show last year - although I don't remember if they used them in Rochester.

Scout House is a great honour guard and if everything lines up for Grennies at finals Scout House has agreed to lead us on. Pretty excited about that one. DLD

  14. Yes Rob, your drum solo sounded much better last night. I don't know what it was but it fell together in Waterloo. I know what it is when it feels good, and it felt good last night. Len is is an absolute performer. He has the whitest teeth under floodlights, LOL. and a real crowd pleaser.

Eh gads, it didn't even feel like we were projecting. It felt like the sound of the drums were eaten up by the rubber by-product that the field was made up of. Be happy that you did't have the stadium to warm up on. You guys may have been peed off because we had the stadium to practise on but it was the pits as far as I was concerned. I wore my athletic sandals as usual and the itty bit of rubber thingys that the field is made up of got between our feet and sandals and ground into our feet. Really painful, but drum corps usual, just put up with it. Nice field to march on with proper shows, rain or not. Did not find it slippery in the rain. I think Kingston should have taken the chance for a full field show.

    #### fine show had by all. Drum Corps in Canada is on the go.

Sad to see on Drum Corps Planet that there is no coverage of Canadian shows.

    Cheers

Upon our return to Kingston we have flags hanging in the garage and cymbals etc. spread all over the place our stuff was just soaked like everyone else. Grenadiers enjoyed the opportunity to showcase the corps and also to share the field with all the other Alumni Corps which I really enjoyed. We are off to Reading PA. this weekend and the support from all the well wishers was appreciated. As you can see A-Class is really tight this year and as in years past Grennies will be ready.

    Cheers Don

  15. Grenadiers will be performing tomorrow night at the Grand Ships Tribute Tatoo along with our Alumni Corp Brothers and Sisters. The show is located at University Stadium in Waterloo On. Scout House Preston is putting on this event and we are very excited to be able to have the opportunity to be part of this fine evening of entertainment. Even more so in Ontario. Our rehearsal site is located at MacGregor Public School at the corner of King and Central so drop by and check us out. Rehearsal begins at 10am to around 4:30pm.

    Thanks Don

  16. I have to agree with Joe. Didn't see all the corps but had a great time in the lot with lotsa folks afterwards! Had to drive one of the corps trucks this weekend which was not too bad. Even getting stopped by a CT State Trooper for a DOT inspection wasn't bad either! LOL :tongue:

The day was warm and I put a new Radiator in the corps truck. Thanks to Buddy for all the help we made it home safely.

  17. Kidsgrove would be the International champ, I believe..... because Grennies are a North American corps. Last I checked.

Correct Fran we pay a dude to let us cross the bridge there really isn't a skill testing question or anything(Monty Python).

We then talk to another dude or dudette show them stuff and welcome to the US. Great people and we are thankful to go to a country where we have so many friends and feel welcomed. Not to mention having the opportunity to be under the DCA umbrella.
