This not a good look for DCI.

A Chance to respond to DCI about FloMarching

I guess they didn’t want my feedback. I bought Flo in ‘17 and ‘18. I haven’t heard from thern,
  3. With the evolution of the uniform and technology to drum corps in recent years, here’s the NBA combining uniforms and technology together in a creative way. Do you think we’ll see something like this on the field anytime soon? What other creative do you think will we see in years to come? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2820955-nba-unveils-jersey-of-the-future-during-2019-nba-all-star-weekend?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial

Why is this thread in “World Class” discussions?

Yes. But I don’t have any info for what’s happening today at camp.

    2019 Tour Schedule!

Nice job on the spreadsheet. I think it is missing Orlando on July 6th for Crown, right?

    2019 Tour Schedule!

I saw in the news arcticle that the TOC Is at Akron Infocision. Yet, within DCI’s schedule, the Aug 5th show is Massillon. BTW - I was hoping that DCI would improve the user experience for their schedule - NOPE . Their old schedule format was much better.

    2019 Tour Schedule!

I wonder if it is time for DCI to stop sending Midwest-Eastern corps out west. There was a time when DCI needed some help in numbers for their western lineups. I don’t think that’s an issue anymore.

    Best Reprise Closer?

I’ve been listening to Crown’s “Relentless” from 2016. I can’t think of a finer example of a reprise and a show filled with continuity, dramamatic tie-ins and messaging. Medea is only one example, as incredible as it is. This show was broadway on a footballl field. Reprise, YES. And so much more! PS - and now back to my off-season hibernation!😴
  12. As popular as DCI may be, its economic success rides far too much on the backs of the marching members. DCI is fortunate to be able to sell a product that literally pays for itself. For the activity to truly expand, it needs to reach out to an even larger audience and open the activity to more kids that don't need a small loan to participate on drum corps' biggest stages.
  13. Here's some added perspective: Pioneer's latest available gross receipts very similar to that of Music City. Look what Music City has accomplished compared to Pio. Pathetic leadership and structure with Pioneer. The whole needs needs torn down or closed down immediately.

    Pioneer Member Rant

Only 1 hour and 20 minutes away, 90 miles west of Milwaukee where Pioneer resides, is a pretty darn good up-and-coming corps from Oregon, WI. SHADOW, as they are called. We enjoyed their show last week at prelims. Looks like Wisconsin is in good hands. I’d suggest anyone at PIO checking them out. Until then, Pioneer needs to clean house, structure an independent board, hire a qualified director, and begin looking like, and acting like, a World Class drum corps. If not, shut them down. There are plenty of other options as witnessed by the tremendous growth of Open Class and a resurgence of many other corps throughout DCI. By the way, how many times will corps fall prey to dictator directors that also control their own board?
  15. GE is Great Expectations gone seriously haywire. As odd as it seems, I can see some corps doing this. Casting call: trapeze artists, gymnasts, comedians. Toss in dogs with hats and we got us a show!

    Your 2018 Top 6

By the way, hat's off to the 7th Regiment. They were the first corps of the day at prelims where it was evident they were a step above the earlier corps in performance. Not the biggest corps, but you could tell they must have a pretty good instructional staff and a dedicated group of marching members. We really enjoyed their performance.

    2019 what corps will wear

Favorite uni’s. They could bring these back anytime: Bluecoats 2011-2013 Madison - traditional from head to spats. Cadets - you know ‘em I have grown quickly tired of the spandex, hatless, costume-box look. Oh, well. That’s just me.

    Crowd Love at Finals

The ovation Cadets received was more related to their show than to anything they went through. Sure, early in the season I felt many in attendance were pulling for them for what occurred in the off-season. But, truly, the crowd reaction late in the year was a product of the tremendous show they performed. The Cadets show drew in audience members and generated an organic response. It was great to see and a show I won't soon forget.
  20. Well played, OP. Well played!

SCV's show was an epic musical fail.

Channel3, is this you? PS - Interesting, thought-provoking post.
  22. In a practical sense, I have no problem in using non-marching members as sound techs. You probably will not get a marching member to dedicate their season to working sideline equipment. However, a by-product of being to able to use anyone to operate the board(s), inadvertently creates an uneven playing field for some of the top corps who can invest more heavily in the ever-increasing sight and sound technology. What's needed with electronics are judging sheets that honestly take into account the manner in which the sound team works to enhance what is going on the field - and what the fans are getting in the seats. I understand that electronics are incorporated into the sheets, but I am not sure that today's sheets are current with the times.
  23. Reign in the extreme use of amp boosting. When the Colt CADETS are the loudest corps, something is very wrong.

    10 More Years in Indy

Overall, Indy is a great location. Biggest gripe is the sound in the dome. Sure would be nice if they could open the roof - weather permitting Additional curtains in back corners and end zones would help too. As for NFL stadiums, the staff at LOS are very fan friendly. This stadium is not nearly as restrictive as other NFL stadiums. Concession prices could e better. They should follow Atlanta as a good example where prices are extremely reasonable.
