  1. I have been around drum corps for a long time. Your rationale for the 21 year old max is the most insightful reasoning I have ever seen. In your 2 paragraphs above, you have changed my thinking on this one. I wholeheartedly agree. Thank you for posting!
  2. DCI should have increased the age max years ago. Seems silly to cap it at 21. The average age of a world class corps is pushing 20. Gone are the days when a 13 year-old kid is going to march in their community corps. DCI should allow college aged people to at least 22 (four years college eligibility years).
  3. No where in the complaint did it state the ladder was tied and secured. Who’s at fault for that one?
  4. 1st or 2nd interchangeable. ONE judge determined the outcome for BD. However, I do not begrudge BD's win. Flip the results and you could have the same argument. The one that really gets me is SCV. Early in the season I firmly expected SCV to medal. Their show early on looked great compared to the competition - even beating BD. However, by the end of the season, it was GLARING how little they moved while playing anything remotely difficult. The running to spots, playing, little vignettes became repetitive - almost comical in design. The mic'd brass sounded so artificial. Watching them perform after Crown who burned soles into to the turf with rapid movement and glorious musicianship, I was convinced that, finally, the judges would reward Crown with the bronze - by a healthy margin. Disappointed it did not happen. Oh, well. We move on.
  5. to much, or not to much. that is the question.
  6. Of all the shows for vote, the musical piece that will be remembered the most fondly is “Creep”. Iconic.
  7. Way cool post by the OP. Well done. Well done!
  8. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh it’s another bloooooooooooooooooooocoats thread title One more time with gusto: Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whew, okay. It’s out my system for another year.
  9. My fav five: 1. Hot dogs 2. BD 3. Crown 4. Cavies 5. Blue Stars
  10. Scouts could be the most anticipated corps of them all next year. Looking forward to the new energy!
  11. Why even have the "pit" in the front? With electronics, I'm surprised that no one has put them on the back sideline yet - or, truly a "pit" as in out of the picture.
  12. One thing that I think may impact the scoring improvement for the top 12 on your list is that these corps have been perennial finalists. Scoring for the top 12 is pretty consistent no matter who the corps is. Look at the scoring jumps from Allentown to Indy. You'll probably find that the jump in scores for that short period of time for the top 3-4 at Indy is fairly significant. It's always going to take a high 97-98 to finish 1st. 97 is the mark for a medal. You can pretty much count on it.
  13. Why only one or the other. Add even more fruit to the mix and make a smoothie.
  14. CONGRATS BD. You truly earned this one!
  15. Bluecoats have a more room for error, whereas BD will need a darned near perfect run tonight to beat them.
  16. Bluecoats win tonight because they will win GE and BD’s musical analysis and brass scores will do them in with this panel of judges.
  17. Not at all. I could list a few corps that I would not have a problem with missing. However, out of respect for members who created their show, I do not think encouraging an exclusionary thread of corps to write off is respectful to the members of those corps. Let us not lose sight of the members who have given so much of themselves to create their art. I would add that I am a bit surprised that so many have already chimed in with their “hotdog” corps. To each is own. I will not be offering mine, though.
  18. Westman talked about licensing durning the theater broadcast. Not specifically about synch rights but about copyright issues involving George Harrison music versus other Beatles music. I’m sure they’ve got this one covered. I’d be surprised if they didn’t.
