  1. Cavaliers are so greatly improved since the start of the season. Well done green machine!
  2. Love watching the Cavaliers drum. Lord Almighty I hope they win percussion tonight!
  3. There’s something very compelling about Troopers show. Kind of like looking into the sun when you know you’re not supposed to.
  4. Troopers harmonica solo is what amplification is perfect for. Glad we can enjoy such a unique sound!
  5. Spirit guard and BD must have shopped at the same costume store.
  6. I love the small groups. It reminds me way back when I marched. There were so many smaller corps then. These kids love the activity just as much as anyone else and it’s wonderful that there are groups like this to give them the opportunity to enjoy performing.
  7. I tuned out of Flo at this point. No knock on Bloo, but I’m not a particular fan of standstills to begin with. Seeing a standstill as the last performing corps is kind of anticlimactic.
  8. Atlanta is my favorite regional. Corps have cleaned so well by this show. Still intrigue for what still may come with final tweaks. No knock on next week’s Allentown, but this show doesn’t split into 2 days. Some things I’m looking forward to see - in no particular order: Some of the early performances of MCDC, Spirit, Madison, BK. Who’s trending upward. These corps don’t get as much attention so this is their time to shine in a big show. Then Troopers. Still surprised they haven’t scored higher. Maybe better execution will get them there. Too bad Colts aren’t here today. And Mandarines. This is the year they should be here! Cavies percussion. Can they continue their DOMINANCE and take top drums! I’m hoping for it quite honestly! Any new wrinkles held back to toss in tonight? In 2015, Crown surprised everyone with the gold-colored flyover. The place went nuts. Can BAC continue to close the gap? Can Crown overcome an early performance slot? Will judges finally give Phantom Regiment the love they truly deserve? Score what they see, not perceive And BD. Will anyone challenge them and create doubt about their inevitable undefeated season? Will all corps be able to do a field show with all (most) performers. No standstills and scratches! GOOD HEALTH, ALL!
  9. Thank you. Always nice to start a show thread with an easy-to-read show lineup!
  10. My concern too. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2023/07/28/1190443473/the-cdc-sees-signs-of-a-late-summer-covid-wave
  11. I keep expecting the gap to close too. Then again, I remember this famous quote: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
  12. Ah, dang. Stand still. Oh well. Priority to the kids!
  13. Pit in that off-centered circle is pretty cool. Props and tarps well done. Everything clicks with this show.
  14. Pound for pound, this PR show is probably my favorite of the year!
  15. Dang, Phantom Regiment, you capture my attention right from the start of this show. LOVE PR THIS YEAR!!!
  16. Some observations on Crown following what I just saw: Musically and visually improved. Nice drill showing Excalibur. Voice overs clearer in the beginning of show - not sure if it’s Flo or something they did. Added some voice and the beginning is okay. HOWEVER, the voice over at the start of the ballad is the biggest buzz killer of the season. HATE the voice over before that absolute gorgeous ballad. Okay I said it. I’ll move on. Costuming of Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot (I think those are the characters) makes it easier to see what’s going on. The big round top ping pong table is gone in favor of the knight pizzas. I like this so much better. The 2 halves are gone for good? I always thought it didn’t do much for the design and actually got in the way. Hope it stays gone. A number of other things with music changes all sounded like Improvements and was fun to hear the differences as they performed. Overall, really enjoyed Crown. Still more they’ll do over the last 2 weeks. Beautiful show!
  17. Can’t tell you how many times we’ve sat next to parents of some kid on the field with a totally unrelated corps and then asking them what their kids name is and then cheering for that kid along with them like they were one of ours. It’s a lot of fun.
  18. I’m so looking forward to this one. I’ve been to Murfreesboro a number of times and always enjoyed seeing it live. Grateful to be able to watch this year on the improved Flo. Interesting performance order. Crown on before intermission and Bloo pulling up the rear. Maybe we’ll see some new wrinkles in shows (I.e. Crown formation) as a primer to Atlanta on Saturday. We can only hope!
  19. I hope performers have enough gas in the tank after the grueling heat in Texas. To good health and no more standstills and scratches!!!
