  5. The comment "You should hang out with a good brass staff sometime" suggests otherwise to me sir. And I have learned a lot from my brass teachers I have had.
  6. I have worked with a good brass staff when I marched Blue Stars in 2009 as well as at Cincinnati Tradition, using the same brass technique I'm talking about, under my caption head who went on to be at Madison until this year when he took over as brass writer for Oregon Crusaders. Also, I am friends with Troopers caption head that also uses the same brass technique, developed by Donnie Van Doren at Star of Indiana. I understand the brass technique I have been taught and how to teach it to others, and I don't appreciate someone insulting the brass teachers and friends I have had since I've been in drum corps.
  7. I never said playing on the move was hard, that it only counts on the move, when applicable. If you can't play it on the move then there's no sense in rehearsing it standing still, you rehearse it on the move.
  8. The Bluegrass Alliance is proud to announce that all 3 of its corps will be returning to competition this season following a very successful season with all 3 corps placing in finals in their respective divisions. We are excited to return this season with even more exciting show design for the audiences this season! 9. It doesn't matter if you can play your music well stading still in the horn arc, unless if rehearsing a hold, because we march and play. Therefore, playing your music with correct technique and correct notes only counts if its on the move. Its on the front cover of a few corps brass manuals.
  10. But in drum corps, we march and play
  11. Tell that to my caption heads I've had haha, its even written on our playing technique book
  12. It only counts on the move
  13. I can always have my other have write music for me if I wanted it lol

  15. There are some floating around, but not for all of them.
  16. Its better for your back in the long run if you force yourself to always have good posture. Also, practice never "chesting" your horn.
  17. The only corps I can say 100% will remain consistent is BD and that's because they have a history of being extremely consistent in the top 4 since forever ago
  18. Haven't placed any predictions, but I will say just because you have the same staff, doesn't mean you'll get the same result each year. Also depends on show design and abilities of the corps member.
  19. I just envision in my head what my shows are like. I never physically put anything down. I guess I should start show design for the next season though.
  20. I have a brass technique book that is useful if you would like a copy, I'd be more than happy to email it to you. Just shoot me a message.
  21. Congrats to the champions in all classes as well as the Bluegrass Alliance corps for making finals in each of their respective classes!
  22. let's go Thoroughbred and Colonels! Keep it up! Let's push hard tonight Enlightenment!
  23. I never understood how the sweepstakes standings work
  24. Awesome job Thoroughbreds on coming out of no where to take top spot in World Class!
  25. A strong showing last night by Enlightenment's debut! Finishing just barely behind Cross, the corps is excited for continued growth throughout the remainder of the season!
