  4. I'd like to apologize, to everyone. In my haste to post this originally, I accidentally posted an incorrect date for our December camp, which actually happened today. That being said, we are happy to say that our second rehearsal was a success! Our drumline is almost fully set as well as our colorguard. However we do need 2 vitals things, horns and front ensemble! We would like to extend an invitation to any and all to help us start the new year off right at our next rehearsal on January 4th, same time and place as listed above. Bring friends, family, anyone you like! And for you old school fans out there, YES, Cincinnati Tradition does still march G bugles! So if you are looking for a great 2015 drum corps experience, come join us January 4th! For more information feel free to contact me at chase.todd89@gmail.com or go to our website www.cincinnatitradition.org or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CincinnatiTradition
  5. It's November! That means its time to start thinking about drum corps season! Yes, the time is already upon us once again. I am here to extend an invitation to everyone that reads this to come and join us at Cincinnati Tradition for the 2015 season! 2014 was a very successful season for the corps, making our first ever appearance at DCA finals! Just who is Cincinnati Tradition? Cincinnati Tradition is an all age drum & bugle corps that competes in the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) circuit as well as performs at DCI and SoundSport events throughout the summer. The corps was founded in 1984 and up until 2009 was a parade and exhibition corps. In 2009 the corps competed in DCA's Mini Corps division and in 2010 moved to the Class A division and have competed there ever since achieving finalist status in the 2014 season. We consist of members that travel from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Come on out to our winter camps to audition and join us to be a part of the ONLY drum & bugle corps left in the tri-state area. Audition info can be found on our website www.cincinnatitradition.org as well as on our Facebook page. You can also message me directly and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Winter Schedule: November 23 - 9:00am-5:00pm December 21 - 9:00am-5:00pm January 4 - 9:00am-5:00pm Location: Silverton Paideia Academy 7451 Montgomery Rd Silverton, OH 45236 Also, check out this high quality audio of Cincinnati Tradition at our warmup for finals. Yea, all I have is multi cam
  7. You got it, the piston is basically 1st valve, the rotor 2nd valve, and you can throw anything that requires a 3rd valve out the window lol
  8. All of our rehearsals, with the exception of when we travel to shows, have 95% been on concrete since I joined in 2012.
  9. Eh, not a fan of Jupiter horns, but to each his own. I personally always recommend Yamaha marching horns.
  10. And they don't offer sponsoships like the others do. You pay full price for their horns no matter what. But if you ever consider G horns, Kantsul is well worth the investment. I marched a Kantsul Grande this season and it was by far the most open horn I ever played, I loved it.
  11. I haven't seen one, I tried to get it on my phone while I was on field for retreat, but I didn't have enough memory :(
  12. So you just wasted time arguing and you're not going to put effort into defending your claim? Because that makes perfect sense right?
  13. I've seen Star quite a few times in my short time being a part of DCA, and they are anything except boring. They are clean, they have the best quality of sound. That's exciting to me, plus the fact that they do more than just stand there and play loud. They have ups and downs in their show, which makes it more interesting. So I'm sorry to break this to you, but Star United is anything but boring. None of the Mini Corps were boring at all yesterday.
  14. Sadly DCA rules only allow the cool instruments to have that 4th valve (referring to the tubas)
  15. We do not have a separate ensemble in Cincinnati, we just have select members from the corps performing.
  16. Thoroughbreds are looking to break 80 tonight! We are bringing it to the Midwest along with the Colonels!
  17. I do enjoy going to the east for championships each year, since I've joined a DCA corps. I'm not complaining about that. However, I feel it would be beneficial to some of the corps if there was more of a push to host a show in the Cincinnati/Somewhere-in-the-Ohio-Valley-Area. Because it is hard and I feel that it is partially unfair to some of the corps that absolutely have to travel 8+ hours just to get at least one show in before championships. An example, this makes my 3rd season with Cincinnati Tradition, we are only able to go to 2 DCA shows before finals every year. Both shows are 8+ hours of travel away from us, one being in Wisconsin, the other being in Georgia. I have felt that it would be beneficial, not just to our corps, but other corps that are in traveling distance of that area as well. Granted, I don't know why this has not happened yet, but I think that more of the corps should try to travel to some of the areas that have shows with fewer corps at them as compared to the shows that are closer to where a majority of the DCA corps are located at. If we want to expand DCA or try to make it more solid, we have to be willing to get our circuit more exposure. I personally think it would help recruiting for some of the corps if there were more shows being hosted in the areas that the corps are from and if ALL of the corps are willing to travel to these areas at least once or twice during the season to help with this exposure. Yes, I understand money for traveling is harder now than it ever has been. Its just an idea I have tossed around in my head and think it might be something to consider if we want to try to expand and see more corps start to form in our circuit.
  18. Home show for the Bluegrass Alliance corps tonight!
  19. I've played both and I've had kids in high school I have taught that went from King to Jupiter, they complained that they had to struggle to get sound out with the Jupiters. Not a fan of Jupiter horns. My first choice (for Bb marching horns) is always Yamaha.
  20. I'm up for trying something new, never know how well it will work until we try it. Trial and error.
  21. Wanted to repost my corps because when I went to the caption selector, they had the same point available, I'm moving Thoroughbreds to Open Class and The Colonels will be Class A Corps name: The Thoroughbreds Director: Stephen Chase Todd Division: Open Class Hometown: Louisville, KY Show Title: "PowerSurge" Corps name: Kentucky Colonels Director: Stephen Chase Todd Class: Class A Hometown: Frankfort, KY Show Title: "Home"
  22. Greetings all! News from Cincinnati Tradition, we have 23 horns! What does that mean you may ask? It means we only need one more person to join our hornline and we will have every spot filled! Our last remaining hornline spot is a contra spot, but don't let that discourage you! We are still actively looking to fill our last remaining colorguard and front ensemble spots so you still have an opportunity to be part of Tradition's biggest season yet as well as our 30th anniversary season! Our next rehearsal is on May 17-18 at William Henry Harrison HS in Harrison, OH. If you want more info, feel free to contact any member of the corps that you can find as well as our corps director Tom Slade, or visit our website at http://www.cincinnatitradition.org/ Hope to see you guys on the 17th!
  23. PowerSurge is going to be original music Finding Home will consist of Appalachian Spring, Adagio for Strings/Shenandoah, By Loch and Mountain, and O Magnum Mysterium
  24. The Bluegrass Alliance is proud to announce our season 22 shows for both of our corps. The Thoroughbreds The Thoroughbreds season 22 production is titled "PowerSurge." Here we explore the elements of electricity. Its structure, its limits, its dangers, and its potentials. Kentucky Colonels The Kentucky Colonels season 22 production is titled "Finding Home." Join us on our spiritual journey in an attempt to recover what was lost due to a tragic incident long ago. We strive to find meaning in what happend and hope to find not a physical home, but a sense of meaning in life. A sense of being "Home."
