  1. Wow, that's quite a mouthful. lol. FWIW, there were some pretty nasty and intense rivalries in the early-mid 80's as well. By around 1990 or so, most corps had morphed into the more "friendly rivalry" style we see more of these days.
  2. Hey all, I've been working on a new free video series that focuses on rhythm lessons for all musicians, thought I'd share it with the DCP folks. I'm planning on having lots of free vids, including intermediate and advanced, but for now there are a couple dealing with the basics, so if you want a refresher or want to point any students to the vids I'm hoping to provide a cool learning center for all musicians from beginner on up (in particular, there are some vids over on the site from my old Disney shows, very drum corps oriented since it's mostly Blue Devil guys so I'm sure you'll enjoy!). Hope you all like it, and feel free to share it around if you do. Thanks! rhythm lessons & tutorials - corps style Disney drumming vids Also check out my links section at the bottom for other great resources from other drum corps guys, including of course a link to drum corps planet. :)
  3. That original picture way back on the first page is a total classic!
  4. I've just fired up a corps/rhythm/percussion website of my own and I'm hoping to maybe link with DCP and get some interest going on. It's nothing much yet, but I put up a few vids of Disney drumming shows you corps guys might like (I'm a corps guy too, check my profile). Anyway, rather than start up a topic somewhere else I thought I'd mention it here. To the guys who run the site, would it be cool if I added a link to drum corps planet over there? Hope you have a chance to check it out. Later. Dave Oh...duh. It's http://upbeatrhythms.com - hope to catch up to you all here or there. And I set up a twitter page if you do the follow thing, http://Twitter.com/upbeatrhythms :)
  5. Well, you're entitled to your opinion and all, but I'd have to question that "no contest" statement there. :p Not that they weren't great, I loved Star's drumline in 93. It's just, there were others. ;)
  6. Gotta hand it to em, they had the crowd eating out of the palms of their hands that night. Pretty great marching technique there, too.
  7. Incredible corps. Amazing hornline, cleanest snareline maybe ever, drumline over all was awesome, guard was elegant and fit the show perfectly, that corps had the total package going on. Someone said masterpiece. I concur. :)
