  1. That's pretty cool that there are 2nd and 3rd generations in the Cab family. That's also pretty cool that you guys have vanpools and carpools going on. Does anyone move to the area for the summer and then go back home after the season is over (i.e. teachers)?
  2. For those of you in the Northeast, how do you decide which corps to join? There seem to be so many to choose from within a couple hours drive. Another question I have is if you have transplants that live in other locations that "move in" during the summer for the competitive season? If there are any transplants, I'd love to hear about your experience?
  3. Wow! I must say that you all are great at giving history lessons. I am still learning a lot about this activity (only been marching since 2002). I NEVER knew there were all-girl corps! Wish I would have been born a decade or so earlier so I could have marched in one!
  4. Wow! If you marched with our DD, then you ARE an old guy. J/K. I have to say that MCL sounded wonderful from my vantage point backfield while you all were performing at Prelims. Sounds like that was a well deserved Caption award. Congrats! Also, you have a very nice drum major that was a pleasant person to chat with for a few seconds. Since our guard marched in two rows, half of us made up his very own corps for Retreat when we marched around the stadium. heehee And thank you for the compliment, MCL MADBari! You're looking pretty spiffy in that Burgandy, too. There's always something about a man in uniform! Sigh!
  5. I am hating that I didn't get to watch your field performance this year since we had to leave before you went on in Prelims. I was impressed with your colorguard when I saw them warming up in the parking lot and there was a very nice lady that I chatted with for a bit. (I don't know her name, but she said she marched corps before and now her daughter is marching Skyliners rifle line) I wanted to send my congrats to Aaron for his well deserved medal for Sabre Individual. I also have to say that I enjoyed his duet with Daniel, especially the costume change. b**bs
  6. Well, I looooooooooved watching you guys work it out on the field at Finals. I must say this is my favorite Gold guard to date (on AND off the field) and something tells me you are only going up from here. Congrats on a job well done and your well deserved placement in Finals! Go Gold!
  7. Chris (Alliance Guard member and initiator (sp?) of Kodak moments) has DCA shots up on his Yahoo! Photo album. I will ask him if he can post a link to those fabulous photos that he took this past weekend. My favorite shots are the ones where all three Class A Finalist guards posed together and the one where Gold's guard took a photo with our entire corps. Good times were had by all!
  8. From what a couple of my friends said in the stands, all 3 Class A corps came out swinging when we all stepped on the field for Finals. I know for a fact that we had a different colorguard out there for Finals so I'm not surprised about the increase in score for us. It sounds like it could have been the same for the others, too.
  9. Thanks you guys for the well wishes. Hope you all made it up here safe, too. We actually made record time by getting here in 13 hours which included a stop for breakfast and a couple of potty breaks. I think our bus driver has Warp Speed on his bus. :)
  10. I hope to catch it agan this year, jbabymusic! My mom (Mama Pril) LOVED it and got it on video tape last year. It was just as entertaining for me to watch it on the video several times as it was watching it live at I & E last year. I'm sure you will keep the proud tradition going by earning another medal!! How many years in a row is it now?
  11. Thank you Heat Wave and St. Cloud band parents and kids! I agree with Tammi that the hospitality was wonderful. I enjoyed chatting with some of the members from other corps and look forward to continuing the fellowship in Scranton. See ya'll there!
  12. Ritchie, how about I seriously spit crackers all over my keyboard when I read your post! I need to remember not to eat or drink anything when I am reading what you write. Now I have to go and get something to clean all of this peanut butter cracker crumbs out of the keyboard.
  13. we loved it, we were singing along. Many Bushwackers seemed to be digging it, too! a small kick line, I think? :P <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Before it petered down to just the Bushwackers, it was CorpsVets, Grenadiers, AND the Bushwackers colorguard kicking their legs high! That was THE most fun I have had at Retreat EVER!! :)
