I'm also interested in the techs who teach the technique and clean.
Seems to be a lot of familiar faces there too from the announcement.

I for one want to be sure that they are meeting (and in good standing with) CA & IRS non-profit legal requirements, as well as putting in place a system to prevent member abuse.
Posting a transparent audit by a certified third party CPA firm wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
Oh certainly, but I would most be interested in which staff will sign on the dotted line for the 2024 season
If I were choosing to be on staff I would want to be sure that the corps would be solvent for the full season.

Largely the same on design, Bart Woodley and Scott Koter are out, Dan Morrison in.
I think most people are interested in the Visual, Brass, Percussion, and Guard teams.

It’s literally on their home page of their website
It also only happens the first time you go to the site. (or at least that was the case for me)
Also it could be considered a pop-up if you have a blocker on your browser.

Daffinee Is a great hire! He’s done great work with the highest end of Texas band. I would expect his work for Cavaliers to be great.
Curious if the percussion, battery mostly, will be featured so prominently throughout the show again. Got a good section, might as well feature them!
I believe that a lot of the design reins are in the hands of Mac. So I think it will be treated equally this next year.

We got a new drill designer
His name is Mason Daffinee. I believe he teaches at Regan
I think it is a great hire, and I believe he was at Reagan. Some alum do know him and have praise for the hire.

Honestly, I haven't heard of Mason Daffinee. Anybody know anything other than what's listed in this announcement?
I don’t, but the credentials are impressive. Hebron and Ronald Reagan are some of the names in Texas band.

Keep the uniforms gosh darn it
I would love for the uniforms/costumes to stay Cavalier in nature, but I believe they may move back to more show specific.

Or just go back to the Cavaliers. Hand him the whole kit and kaboodle this time. I’ve said before that every show he designed for SCV could’ve been designed for the Cavaliers. Yes, including Babylon.
I doubt Gaines writes for DCI anymore, I only foresee WGI for him.

Just found out about this (page 9), no staff change announcements before Labor Day. It’s a new thing. May explain why staff changes news has been slow. https://online.pubhtml5.com/xada/mkpd/?fbclid=IwAR1vkuPuoqLHhDH8oyyy0fuLfr_hp0duwBRQaUp4yR3FcC6ZAP1liy97TXc#p=9
Yes this thread is usually filled with staff members posting to their personal pages that they are leaving and not corps announcements until Labor Day.

Ready for 2024 already. We shall see if there is any staff shakeups in the works.

Just home from Cavaliers rehearsal site. I always went to Atlanta rehearsal when my son marched from 2017 to 2021. Honestly, I’ve come to expect the corps to look a little tired at Atlanta rehearsal. That has been my experience in the past.
That is not what I saw today . I saw a Drum Corps in high spirits and instructional staff still managing every detail of getting better.
it was hotter than hell and no one seem fazed by it. Saw no holes to recent sickness outbreak.
Phantom and Cadets had best watch their six, as while maybe not tonight but soon, “objects in the mirror are closer than they appear”.
We’ll see…😎
I always remember being told to pick it up around Atlanta, the energy of finally competing has faded and the heat has been crazy through Texas. Texas was always hype as it was the first true regional since Minnesota was split. Though on the backside of Atlanta and nearing August always seem to kick us into gear again.

This.
One of the reasons the Cavies will standstill is they're less willing to sacrifice the members' well being for the show and more willing to sacrifice the show for the members' well being. I've always had the sense not an environment where, "Just put me in coach, i can do it" will fly.
And that makes it an activity leader.
To read the number of standstills as "Cavies are doing it wrong" is misreading it.Alumni get more fired up about member treatment than placement.

I'm not exactly sure how to respond to this
The Cavaliers created the idea of component medical teams and pushed it on the whole activity. We used to have kids from other corps come see our staff on tour to be taken care of.
The corps you should have most confidence in when it comes to medical issues is the Cavaliers. They don’t push their members through pain to injury and take care of their members just like people idolize BD over.

They are trying to become the most insufferable poster on this site. Over the years, that kind of chaff tends to fall of, here’s to hoping it is soon.
