Yeah this is kind of a pointless thread but I really want to see if it's a 50/50 divide. Vote for which corps you are rooting to pull it out in the end (not necessarily honks, but just so everyone can participate)

Percussion, and Visual (specifically performance and ensemble). More than enough room for improvement. In all technicality Blue Devils should be close to peaked (even though their scores won't display that) and Crown has much more in the tank due to growing room.

Want to give me the winning lottery numbers as well? In all seriousness I see what you're saying but in all honesty this is a spread that can be overcome in 2 weeks. It's possible but it's an uphill battle from here.

Crown hasn't been that low in percussion this season until Atlanta I'm pretty sure. This season they have pretty much averaged 5th in percussion...which you CAN win with.

Phantom was down 1.15 to BD in Atlanta 2008 (same spread as last night between Crown and BD) so I don't see why it couldn't happen again this year. I'm not calling it over unless I see the spread increase over the next competitions.

Yeah but I think they only lost to BD by like .7. If you're referring to this years top 4 winning on a given year I'd probably have to disagree but only with the Cadets.

Ooh I just found out Phantom was actually in 3rd at Atlanta in 2008. Man any of the top 3 shows that year could have won any other given year.

Get your head out of the sand. How about this...you post a clip of Blue Devils doing something tough in your book and I'll post something of Crown doing something tough in my book. I bet if we did a poll on it yours would be in the minority.

The only thing I want to state right now is that my knowledge on percussion and guard is minimal at best. That being said, what else would determine difficulty? Playing loud volumes in tune and jazz running...does it get much harder? And if so are the Blue Devils doing it? No.

Okay at least we can agree on that. Saying all corps should be doing the same stuff is a little arrogant thinking over it. It gives us variety and identities throughout the corps.

Watch the shows closely bud. Are you blindfolded watching these shows? Crowns whole opener they were absolutely booking it. Blue Devils are only booking it when their horns are down (minus maybe a small portion of the show).

How could you disagree? It's a FACT that Crown's show is harder. If you disagree you're uneducated on the activity or have never marched.

Haha quite frankly I'd love to see Phantom win too. As long as BD doesn't get rewarded for fielding a product that is easier than some High School programs.

If you got a B in an on level course and got a B in an Advanced Placement course which is more impressive? The AP one obviously. That's exactly the case between BD and Crown. 13th place corps aren't even in the discussion. The reason they can't go balls to the wall is because they don't have the talent pool that medal corps do.

Obviously it was an example. I used it to show how difficult Crowns show was in comparison to BDs. I don't know how judging works? One of my friends/mentors was on the panel last night so I'd think having such a close relation with a judge would surely bring me the right knowledge to making educated opinions. The current system is flawed. By all technicality you could make a show doing figure 8 at 90bpm flawlessly and pull out a perfect visual score. I'd rather see a figure 8 show at 200bpm that isn't as perfect but is near as perfect.

Yeah but too bad that isn't the case for Crown. They are executing the balls out of their show but just not as well as the Blue Devils. That is a fact. BUT should Crown really be executing as well? By the way if we want to do rifle comparisons the Blue Devils are doing a 2 and Crown is doing a 8 or 9. The difficulty spectrum is actually really broad between the two. You act like Crown is "dropping the rifle half the time" when they aren't. Crown should not be shafted for going for it (and being pretty #### successful) instead of playing it SAFE like the Devils.

I COMPLETELY agree with this. Jazz running at 212 bpm while playing runs is impressive and exciting! Sure it might not be as "clean" as the Blue Devils half-time 90bpm visual but should it be?!? That's crazy if you think that the 212bpm should get punished for not being as "clean". Guarantee if Blue Devils tried doing 212 bpm they wouldn't be the best in visual. GUARANTEE. Would more people like them? YES. So where is the trade-off?
