I think Crossmen will be in finals.
-
I hear that BK has one of the most difficult visual programs and just can't seem to get it clean.
-
I have not seen their show. So, I can't honestly assess them. I would have to say that I am very disappointed in the Troopers' placing so far this year. I expected better from them.
-
Honestly I love Spirit's show! But I just don't think they are in that grouping with Scouts. I think at the end of the day it will be Scouts, Cavies, SCV and Blue Coats in the same groupiing. The lower grouping will be Spirit, Boston, Blue Stars and Crossmen.

Crossmen 72.4 Pioneer 58.75
-
Tonight's scores: Phantom 82.7. Scouts 79.7 Spirit 75.8

Score predictions sound about higher. I think BAC may score a little higher because I thinks Scouts will score higher tonight in the Wisconsin show. And I don't think BAC will score higher than Scouts.

The impact of Madison topping Cavaliers...
bobjective replied to Phantom&Phitch's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Being a Scout alum that matched in the 80s. I can say that although we were having a great deal of success, we always pulled for the Cavies' success. There is a special brotherhood to being in an all male corps. And being that we are the only two remaining all male corps, it is in the best interest for dci as a whole for the Scouts and the Cavaliers to remain strong in the activity. Yes, the Scouts want to be great. And, yes the Cavaliers want to be great. These are two proud organizations with rich pride and tradition. One or two off off years would not seriously effect the recruiting for the Cavies. Because it is what it is, only the Scouts are "The Scouts." And, only the Cavaliers are The Cavaliers." -
Way to go SCOUTS!!!

Do you guys feel like the Cavaliers might pass Scouts before dci finals? I still don't feel the Cavaliers have the show that can do it once Madison cleans their show. -

Is anyone having problems sending private messages through? I can't get it to go through. -
Nice review!!

By any means necessary does not mean stealing staff. It means putting feelers out there to put together the best staff possible together. Look at SCV for example getting both Paul Rennick and JD Shaw from Phantom over the past couple of years. It has made them more competitive. But st the same time it certainly has not hurt Phantom.

But we never know. I expect with next year being Scouts' 75th anniversary we will see a drastic uniform change. Maybe a total throwback!! -
I Agree with Magbo. You are dealing with a whole different staff running the Scouts now that knows how to win. And, they will continue to bring in the best by any means necessary.

Chris Komnick explained that the reason for not wearing spats at this time is that the uniform pants are tapered and they are not able to get the pants on over the leggings. -

Donnie Van Doren is another reason their brass is moving up the charts as well as Robert Smith. -

Interesting note is that Lee Beddis was with Madison back in the mid 90s before he went to Crown. Now, he's back! -

From all indications starting in 2010, that staff put in place a 3 to 4 year plan to be able to start competing for the title again. I think that they will have a break out year next year, with 2013 being their 75th anniversary. I am already hearing some buzz about it and it is going to be mind blowing!!! -

Madison has a put a first class staff in place starting in 2010. They brought in Jim Mason and the old Star of Indiana staff. Then they added top Crown people this year. That along with Chris Komnick, and the recruiting of more talent sets the Scouts up for moving forward every year. And, to answer your question, yes the Scouts are that much better! -
I agree with that possibility.

Yes. I definitely think it makes them look cleaner and more uniform -
It's looking like the 6th and 7th spots will be a battle down the stretch with two old foes Scouts and SCV. I think Bluecoats will hold the 5th spot. I think it will be a slight gap in score between the 8th and 7th spots.

I enjoy Spirit. And I am ecstatic to see them back strong. However, there are some awesome enhancements coming with the Scouts' show and once those changes get put in, I really feel we'll start to see them pull away from Spirit. Sorry, but as a former performer and drum corps staff member, I truly believe that Spirit's show does not have the technical content, even with the Scouts being a little cluttered at times, to catch the Scouts.
