  1. Go BD! And, DANG, Tradition! Three shows in four nights?!
  2. Every time I go to a corps or guard show in New England, I still miss Paul Cain like crazy. He was such a great guy, and always genuinely appreciative of EVERY member of EVERY ensemble.
  3. Great milestone last night, Mandies! Don't stop there !
  4. "Killmen", huh? And I thought a few of the more recent new corps names were goofy! I wonder if this was supposed to connote that they were "killers" in the competitive sense, or if it were an all-girl corps that. . .
  5. So back on the original topic, I just saw a Williamsport school board doc re; DCA '20 and '21, "with possible extension through '23".
  6. "People's reactions" matter in this descending order of importance, though; Current Scouts MMs Scouts alumni who are, in some way or another, still involved with or supportive of the corps Other Scouts alumni Scouts management and BOD The rest of us No argument with the call to be respectful, though!
  7. Cabs sweep all captions, 76.15. Sabers 72.4. Hurcs 69.7 Fusion 69.05 Sun 61.25
  8. Yeah, Hershey was cool way back when. Don't know if HERCO's more reasonable than in the past. But these discussions about bigger stadia are getting a little ahead of where we are in the game at this point. Right now, we need to get more corps so we get more butts in the seats, so more corps are sustainable, so we get yet more butts in the seats, so, etc., etc. . I was having a discussion with my wife last night about that issue. We were talking about how growth actually makes it easier for already-existing organizations. Take WGI. We used to see South Shore Drill Team from Chicago, for example, at shows in the northeast pretty regularly. Now, because there are so many WGI participants EVERYWHERE, we don't, because they don't HAVE to travel like that anymore to compete against appropriate peers, until Dayton week. And I'm not even going to chime in on "The Labor Day Issue" - Way too many good points on both sides of that. Just anywhere but Rochester again. PLEASE!
  9. Just wanted to add my 2 cents - Loved Annapolis, in spite of the curfew problem. But I do really think the champs deserve their encore. If we could get past that issue, I'd be all in, assuming it works with the football sched. Wondered about Chester myself - Heard only great things about the actual stadium. Hadn't heard yet that parking was at all difficult (Gotta be easier than Billtown, though, right?). Don't get me wrong, Billtown did a bunch of things right, and will continue to improve other things. Honestly, I'm looking forward to going back in a couple months. But I don't see it as a viable long-term solution.
  10. Been a Fandarin going way back to the D3 days, even got to see them at one of the Concord Pavilion concerts about twenty years ago, and couldn't be more thrilled to see them bust out like this. And, well, counting Key among our friends sure pumps up the rooting interest even more. Not gonna lie. The Mrs. & I choked up a little watching them be THAT GOOD on BL&L last August! I can see this corps challenging for a medal by 2021. Phenomenal organization, great design and educational teams, wonderful member care, and a new style that's all their own. Sounds like a great recipe for climbing yet higher.
  11. Have absolutely loved them the last two seasons - Hoping this is THE year they're back on Saturday night!
  12. This Saturday, June 29, 6:00 PM, back at the wonderful historic Kennedy Stadium in my old neighborhood in Bridgeport! I'm beyond excited for my Cabs family to get to show my friends and neighbors up here in CT what they've got this year! First score for Cabs, Fusion, Hurcs, and Sun, too! Any Planeteers who'll be there, stop by Cabs' merchandise table and say hello to yours truly!
  13. None of them put their whole show on the field? I knew Bush, but Bucs and Sabers, too? Not disputing, just curious.
  14. While OC hasn't cranked up in my part of the country yet, I will say that SCVC looks awesome. THAT'S the way you make a modern uniform identifiable! Oh, while I'm here - Go Spartans, 7th, and Raiders!
  15. All three DCA corps did quite well, both Cabs' and Bucs' new uniforms look amazing, Cabs Alumni were very loud, and Kelly's was a blast after the show. Only corps I saw from the bleachers was Cabs (busy selling T-shirts, counting 50/50 money, etc., the rest of the time). HUGE step up from last year. People will really like this show.
  16. I could be wrong, but I've always heard that Fusion the WG and Fusion the drum corps are two entirely separate and independent organizations?
  17. Totally agree with both of these points. Sounds like great things are happening with Troopers this spring also, btw. And I'd love to see PC break through one of these years, though. I don't get to see them every year, but always really enjoy them when I do.
  18. Per a post I've seen elsewhere today, it's pretty much across all sections (if, perhap, to varying degrees). Indications seem to be that numbers so far haven't been strong enough for a high quality Class A corps.
  19. PCP wasn't 100% park and bark, either. Certainly not as mobile as, say, the 27th alumni one-off, though.
  20. It can certainly be done. I joined the first season of Park City Pride at the first rehearsal in, IIRC, November (?), and they were certainly a "successful" alumni corps, even for their first performance the following June. In fact, for much of their existence, I'd even say they were probably the second-most-popular alumni corps among those who dig that sort of stuff.
