  1. Proud of my son winning I&E for percussion duo for the second year in a row :) Here is last year's warm up before heading to the venue... https://youtu.be/SArrqnrb0xw
  2. We allowed handicap parking in the VIP area very early and all day due to the few actual marked spots filling up quickly.
  3. And if I knew what you looked like, I would have said Hi! I was tasked with being the bad guy working the VIP lot from 2-6. :)
  4. There was a WS shirt table, but it wasn't quite as flashy as the other tables around it.
  5. All I know is the bunch of us in the back of the field had a collective, wide-eyed "WHAAAAT?" When they announced 3rd place.
  6. My phone was being stupid and didn't record the actual I&E performance. I did get this rehearsal run right before we left to go over to the competition. Richie Frantzman and Eric Carr 2014 DCA I&E: http://youtu.be/SArrqnrb0xw
  7. Proud of my son Richie Frantzman with Eric Carr winning Percussion Duo!
  8. Bush starts out the show with the battery having a few different things going on with their uniforms compared to the brass. It's a change that is part of the show, and the trick is to see when they lose the added elements and look like the rest of the corps. :)
  9. I swear I looked over in the DCI forums, lol. Moves a bit faster over there, I guess.
  10. Now the Chester thread after a moment of stupidity. :)
  11. I wasn't there for Bush's slog through 2011, but did go through 2012. The only reason we've been doing so well the past two years is the fact that we fought through it. 2012 set up the rebuilding process. Every obstacle and crisis was dealt with as it came and we just knew we would come out ok on the other side.Every possible means to keep the corps on the field helps set up the following season.
  12. There is a 15yr old(yes 15!) that marched Tuba at Bush the past 2 years(after self teaching himself the basics in 4 months ) that is in the Phantom Tuba line this year.
  13. My son's band director once corrected me on something similar. It should be the Inaugural Drum Corps Invitational, not 1st Annual...
  14. Holyoke Awards announced: http://www.masslive.com/st-patricks-day/index.ssf/2014/03/holyoke_st_patricks_committee.html#incart_river
  15. Really pumped for this show! It's definitely going to impress.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKQX7jpkpnY So looking forward to the coming season!
  17. All great points! Especially the part about volunteering. Corps that feed their members can never have enough hands helping to cook, prep, and serve.
  18. Previewed a few of the tracks on his website after finals. Really good stuff!
  19. Cracks me up that the term "sliders" was derogatory towards White Castle, then other restaurants started using it all over the place.
  20. Actually my goof was TOB A class ACCs wouldn't allow it last year in Harrisburg. I think we did have a table at Hershey. I believe there was a space issue at Dauphin Stadium and they didn't allow any tables, including Surf. I edited my post to fix that. I did not intend to ever disrespect TOB if anyone took it that way, as I have the utmost respect for everyone there. Please accept my apology Jeff.
  21. And I do understand this. With all the talk about "the good of the activity", I, personally, think it's not a fair practice. As far as the corps I'm involved with, we do hit Cavalcade and TOB shows just about every week, but there are many each week. TOB has 13 shows this coming Saturday, alone. And we did get in a local USBANDS show yesterday. TOB didn't allow ANY recruiting tables at Class A ACCs and that's fine. Last year Surf had their trailer out in the parking lot in Harrisburg with a flag flying and that was it. USBANDS doesn't allow any recruiting at Championships except Cadets and C2. I don't like it. I don't think I'm alone in that opinion either. And I think I'm allowed to have that opinion, last time I checked.
  22. Seriously? Did you see the word IF? It was stated before me that YEA PROBABLY wouldn't allow it, and it reminded me of the recruiting thing. There was no precedence and I never inferred one. And it's not a vendor space limitation thing. I was there last year. YEA won't allow it. I was stating that it bugged me, not Bush.
  23. OK two clarifications: 1-Jeff said that most DCI shows in the area are run by YEA, so IF there was to be a DCA corps at one of these shows it would most likely ONLY be C2 and others would be shut out. 2- Yes Bush and other corps recruit at many TOB and Cavalcade shows and have gotten into a couple LOCAL(host school) run USBANDS shows. However, if you go to Met-Life for the YEA run USBANDS championships, the ONLY DCA corps allowed to recruit there is C2. Sure, it's legal and maybe it's not for DCA to decide, but it does rub me the wrong way a bit.
