  1. Hi, all. I'm looking for a copy of the 2009 Finals Blu-ray. If anyone has a copy they'd be willing to sell, please let me know. Thanks!
  2. Hi, i’m looking to buy a copy of the un-edited 2008 DCI Finals DVD’s. Really, I’d like to buy every year from 2000-2008, if anyone wants to sell more than just the ‘08 set. Thanks.
  3. I try to fashion my choice based on the person I'm showing, if I know anything at all about them. My wife, then girlfriend, loves Phantom of the Opera, so I showed her SCV 1988. My nephew is on the ROTC drill team, so I went Cavaliers "Machine" and some 70's shows to illustrate the precision. In the past, people who have no idea about marching anything have responded well to Velvet Knights, Crown's Rock Star show, BD 1999, stuff like that. In all cases, the person wanted to see more, and in a few cases went to a live show with me.
  4. I was wondering about this - whether a Vol 3 Champions would come out or an alternate collection (2nd place finishes, or fan favorite) since both the 98 Cadets and 04 Cavies might hold up the process. I'm only basing that on their unavailability on the Fan Network for download. I'll take whatever they want to remaster and put out though - I love the 2 blurays collections they've released so far.
  5. I love the drill in this show. There are several moments where I just laugh out loud in amazement. Bought the Cavaliers Championship dvd set just to get the high-cam versions. I'll have to check out those 2 SCV shows. I really liked their drill in the '99 show.
  6. I'm FROM Jackson and I hated Finals in Jackson. Other than not having to travel. I'd take Legion Field in Brimingham any day over the Vet. Loved the shows that year though. Star didn't click with me at the time (although I was rooting for them due to knowing a few members), but watching again more recently I like it a lot.
  7. I used to have a Santa Clara shirt that was just green with a white SCV on the front, and a man came up to me and said he was a member too. He was probably in his 70's, so I was thinking Wow, when did HE march? So I said Really, you marched in Santa Clara Vanguard? And he suddenly looked disappointed and said No, I thought it was Sons of Confederate Veterans, and walked off.
  8. I was at the DLB in Indy (right behind the DCI camerman, and probably right next to garfield without knowing it) and had a great time! My nephew and I got there early so we could get a good spot, and we were also lucky enough to be underneath the skywalk so that the sun wasn't much of a factor. Standing up for almost 5 hours got old, but the performances made up for that. I think going forward the performances will be even better as the concept will now be clearer to competing lines. The groups that progressed the furthest had more entertainment elements in their pieces (and obviously E-Sarn was the prime example of this) and did more than just play a piece standing perfectly still. I, for one, will be attending any future DLB events I can.
  9. Watched on PBS a few times, but 1st live performance was 1988 DCI South in Birmingham, AL. The first corps (which I had to look up to remember) was Marauders. They started the show with a company front playing Toccata & Fugue in D Minor by Bach - blew me away! The mono speaker on our TV didn't do the volume justice. And it just got better from there. Saw SCV, Madison, Spirit, Skyriders, Velvet Knights, Suncoast...it was a great show. Bought my first drum corps t-shirt (SCV Phantom of the Opera tour shirt) and cemented me as a lifetime fan.
  10. What an amazing show! I am so glad I was able to attend Finals this year. Seeing Crown live was so much better than the online or theater shows (to be fair, they all were). And the encore performance was even better...probably because I wasn't holding my breath the entire time. :) I've never been present for a Finals encore, so this may be the norm, but it appeared that every member on the field was smiling ear-to-ear through the whole thing. Especially the 2 young women doing the counting/narration - so much emotion just from them. What's the record for most standing ovations in a show? Anyway, absolutely love this show and can't wait for the Finals blu-rays to come out so I can watch it over and over.
  11. If I could piggy back on this thread...driving up on Friday, but will be in Indy around 5 so I wanted to check out corps warming up and such (maybe check out the merch). How much access to both will I have without tickets to semis?
  12. 2008 and 2012 BD - neither have cracked my Top 10 or anything, but I do like them much more after having watched them several times. 2007 Cadets - the 1st time I watched this show I stopped about halfway through, it annoyed me so much. I was so annoyed that I would make other people watch it so they could be as annoyed as I was. Then, I was finally able to block out the voice over (to some degree) and really appreciate the music and marching going on. I think this show in Indy, with pre-recorded voice-over might work better and wouldn't seem as jarring now. 1999 SCV - I know, seems impossible, but the first time I watched it I was underwhelmed. It was late, I was tired maybe. By the 3rd time I watched it I was a huge fan. One of my all time favorites now.
  13. I was asked to come fill in the 5th bass drum spot with the '90 Cadets a few weeks before Finals due to an injury, but by the time I met up with them at DCI South in Birmingham they had decided to stick it out with the original player (or at least go with someone already there - I can't remember exactly which). I was bummed - closest I came to ever marching DCI - but I'm glad the guy who had put in all that time and effort got to finish the season...especially since they won it all, and drums to boot. Watching the show now, even coming from a corps-style marching program in high school, it's intimidating to think of having to learn that drill in 2 weeks.
  14. I voted SCV (it's one of my favorite shows period), but I agree it's still very early and Cadets could win me over.
