From DCI website today, edits are listed.  Over 2 minutes of Blue Knights, Cavies, and Boston shows are cut, and over 3 minutes from Blue Stars...42 seconds of BD as well.

We can discuss the licensing issues ad nauseum, but honestly, this all just stinks.  Something has got to be done to fix this so that everyone gets paid appropriately and the shows still stay intact.  Probably will never happen, but it just seems wrong to not see full shows after the kids and staffs work so hard.  So frustrating...

    Blu-ray/DVD sets
    • Blue Devils – 0:42 has been omitted ("Stay (from 'Interstellar')”)

    • The Cavaliers – 2:02 has been omitted ("On the Nature of Daylight," "The Sun's Gone Dim")

    • Boston Crusaders – 2:42 has been omitted ("Wicked Game")

    • Blue Knights – 2:29 has been omitted ("107 Steps")

    • Blue Stars – 3:14 has been omitted ("Come What May (Te Amare)," "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend,” "Kissing You")

    CD set
    • Blue Devils B – :09 of pre-recorded audio has been omitted

    • Spartans – 1:55 of pre-recorded audio has been omitted

Generally been sympathetic to liking Boston even when they were annoying

    Top Shows

    Wicked Game

    Red

    Core of Temptation

1986 (only for their opener Shostis 5th)

Animal Farm (Sorry, I like Shosti and I would have loved to see this show clean, before the big watering so acknowledge it’s the idea/design that landed it here, not the performance)

Least Favorite, I really disliked their 2001-2008 phase so could be just about any year

Colors of the mind, it took me a few years to forgive that show and just when I was…

Church of the mind, it was even more annoying than what I considered the worst Planets show ever

You’re my Star, it’s like their goal was to win the spirit of Disney award and that’s a bad thing (so did they?)

Don't think it was Boston's show designers " goal " in pre season when they designed that year's show, but the simple answer to your question is ... " yes",...... it was selected by the Disney Corporation ( in attendance on Finals Night for several years back then ) as their most enjoyable show for them on that particular Finals Night among the 12. I believe it was this year's show you're referencing anyway, cowtown . . Boston did win it one of those years that Disney was doing this. I do know that anyway.

Boston won the Spirit of Disney Award in 2000 for "Red". "You Are My Star" was 2002. The Cadets won the Spirit of Disney Award that year.

True enough. As a matter of fact,  we all here know a Corps with non FE that had a entire section in their Corps not move 5 yards in either direction the entire show performance... and that Corps had 155 in the summer's show.

That said, its clear that there is little support here on DCP to expand beyond the current 155... and more importantly, there is little to no sentiment among the Corps themselves to even begin to consider expanding beyond 155, let alone secure enough votes to do so. The reason expansion to beyond 155 is not up for consideration... by even the so called "TOP " Corps... is because more than one of them is having trouble trying to come up with the money to finance 155 performers for the summer competition tours, let alone 200 or more of them. So this is a non starter issue right from the getgo at the moment it would appear.

I thought it was 150. When did it change to 155?

Apologies if this has already been answered, but generally when do the Finals audio recordings get released? I'm a bit worried, I've yet to see any pre-order information for CD's and Video's. Anyone else find this strange?

A DCI customer service rep just told me "late 2017/early 2018" for the release of the World Championship audio-video products.  That sucks.

Background checks are specific. State only covers that particular State, and Federal only covers Federal not State. The last time I researched this, which was last year, there was no overall encompassing data base that checked all 50 States and Federal.

Not sure, but I think this may address what you posted. From an FAQ page for the Massachusetts Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS):

    Quote

A National CHRI (criminal history record information) report contains information on arrests for which fingerprint cards have been submitted for the subject to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Identification Division. The arrest information can be submitted by any law enforcement or criminal justice agency in the United States, as well as by any Federal law enforcement or criminal justice agency. Arrests for which fingerprints have not been submitted to the FBI will not be listed. In addition, Wanted Person and Sex Offender notices may also appears on a National CHRI report.

but that supposed umbrella was so short lived that most folks don't even remember it coming out of the umbrella stand.

There's a difference between reality which persists and something that exists only in one CEO's fantasy kingdom.

Just like DCP posters assert past scores having nothing to do with tomorrow's performance, past dislikes of Hopkins should not have anything to do with the current stance toward 2018 mms. If one is fair and not revengeful.

    xandandl -

I believe the response from Fran Haring accurately describes the feelings of most DCP'ers  and addresses your concerns (highlighted above) about the 2018 mm's.

I don't know of anyone here... or anywhere... who is rooting for the Cadets to go under.

Some folks are rooting for a change in administration... which they feel will actually help the Cadets grow stronger.

Big difference between "hoping a corps folds" and "hoping a corps makes some changes."

I'm meant I won't be defending every move or idea. I found myself constantly in the position of making excuses

however - I do have first hand information in THIS instance that is being used unfairly and inaccurately to attack George Hopkins

What's happened here is an individual was given an opportunity, frankly in over their head (that aspect is Hopkins fault to a degree) and then when given feedback instead of stepping up, quits without notice via a hissy fit resignation letter, and leaves a youth organization in the lurch

then all the Hop haters and anti Cadets folks (two different classes) flood this thread using this "letter" to reaffirm in their minds their long held biases

    so I spoke up

First of all, thank you for the clarification.

You state that you have first hand info regarding the USSBA director and his dealings/departure with GH. So were you involved directly in the situation or was the information told to you?

    Okay, fair enough.

What exactly did you mean then, when you say you won't be around to support it online?

Just to make it official, I'm no longer donating or rooting for the Cadets. Hopefully some season down the road that will change

I'm highly unimpressed by the decisions being made. I'll take my support and cheers elsewhere until Hopkins is replaced.

Obviously I hope the members have a great season - but I just won't be around to support it either online or via donations.

Many others feel the same, Cadets are being destroyed by one individual with (in my view) a God complex.

    George.

I can't go through another Hopkins inspired stretch where now the "choir" is the answer

Last time it was voice and we as fans suffered through 2006, a lost championship in 2007, 2008

Can't take it. The show last summer (even with the young corps) was dumped on with late season "additions" by Hop - "can I get an amen" "mass has ended go in peace" the gospel "singing" etc... naked Jesus, the tarp with the jackets -- and very little time spent on cleaning the show. The resources poured into that should have resulted in much more come finals.

Can't take it anymore. Sorry! It's terrible. Girlfriend hired as guard caption head and 7th and 8th and STILL HAS  A JOB?? Ridiculous

Clearly the BOD has zero power.

Is no one going to bring up that the Director of USBands resigned on Friday... in the middle of band season... via the most scathing, bridge-burning letter that I think I've ever seen? If half of the stuff alleged is true... GH is a very bad person.

    No one?

Where would one look, if they wanted to read said letter?

I cannot locate any recent information on the topic.

With so much having changed this year for media consumption involving DCI, I'm concerned at the absence of even a fleeting recognition of such products being available this fall for pre-order or otherwise.

    Did I miss something??

If last year is any indication... it will probably be the middle of October before you can order.
