  1. I realize how bad that came off. I am not sure if I can backtrack but I do want to say that the reasons I love the Blue Devils isn't because of there 15 victories, it is because of what they field. The reason I love The Bluecoats is because I think they have an awesome corp identity. I just picked the wrong instrument. I so wish I could pick up a mellophone and prepare myself for a Blue Devils' spot and then maybe through leadership become a drum major. But, I am way behind the learning curve. Although this thread is about being a drum major, that is not what I would in theory want to be in a corp. I just want to be a part of a corp and some how figured that being a backfield or end zone conductor could be something that may have been a possibility. I am sorry my post was offensive. It in way was suppose to embody a demeaning attitude. I learned a lot from this thread. Thanks!
  2. My ranking is probably: 2005 Cadets 2012 Blue Devils 2007 Blue Devils 2006 Cavaliers 2009 Blue Devils 2008 Phantom Regiment 2013 Carolina Crown 2004 Cavaliers 2011 Cadets 2010 Blue Devils However, I would give 2005 Cadets a 99.5 and 2010 Blue Devils a 98.5. They are all really phenomenal shows.
  3. 1973 7 79.400 1974 20 73.500 1975 4 88.050 ^Look at that 27th Lancers craziness
  4. I don't think that includes board during spring training.
  5. I now understand why trombones aren't included as a line, but I still think a trombone solo could be really effective and LOUD.
  6. My fat thumbs clicked reply instead of edit. Look below. :)
  7. Not solos, but just inclusion in drum corp. Hopkins supports it. -shrug-
  8. I think a Mahler 3 show would be really cool and the trombone solo would be a really cool preshow or something. How about a French Horn solo or feature? Why aren't these kinds of things being discussed but woodwinda are?

  10. By the performance: 1. Carolina Crown 2. Blue Devils 3. Cadets 4. Santa Clara Vanguard 5. Bluecoats 6. Phantom Regiment 7. Boston Crusaders 8. The Cavaliers 9. Madison Scouts 10. Blue Knights 11. Spirit of Atlanta 12. Blue Stars By show design (if everyone played like Crown's brass, Cadet's percussion, BDs Visual and Guard) 1. The Cadets 2. Carolina Crown 3. Blue Devils 4. Santa Clara Vanguard 5. Bluecoats 6. The Cavaliers 7. Phantom Regiment 8. Boston Crusaders 9. Blue Knights 10. Madison Scouts 11. Spirit of Atlanta 12. Blue Stars If each corp had their best run on finals night IMHO 1. Blue Devils (prelims run will go down, in my book, as the best instance of drum corp in years) 2. Carolina Crown (semifinals was their best run) 3. The Caders (finals) 5. Santa Clara Vanguard (finals) 5. Bluecoats (finals) 6. Phantom Regiment (semis) 7. Boston Crusader (quarters or finals) 8. Madison Scouts (either quarters or semis, finals was a little rougher than those two) 9. The Cavaliers (finals) 10. Blue Knights (really underscored finals night) 11. Spirit of Arlanta (finals) 12. Blue Stars (finals)
  11. I would love to be a marching member. I am an oboist however. I am a two year cymbal player and a one year color guard member (I have no prior dance or flag experience, came in to the program trained on rifle, got a rifle spot). I am a trained drum major (I scored very high in the conducting portion of my test, but got tenth in marching as I marched a different style on the cymbal line and had to learn and teach a brand new style.) I am a very strong conductor and would practice at all costs.
  12. Sadly BDB and Cadets2 are very far and unrealistic this year. I would LOVE to march BDB; great way to get your name out there.
  13. Hello! I am wondering what corps take in first time marchers as drum majors. What is an audition like? How do I prepare? I really want to end up at Blue Devils, Cadets or Bluecoats. But just want some experience. Thank you so much!
  14. HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH. I can't believe I am already thinking about this. This is purely something to think about-- it'd be really dramatic from this past season! 1. Blue Devils- Blue Devils' highest score in their history playing a show with little or no gimmicks like 1930? Possibly a fan favorite? Actually rehearse like every other corp? 2. Carolina Crown 3. Bluecoats- Changes marching style and plays and amazing show? Third place brass and second place percussion? 4. The Cadets- Takes a completely different take from this year? The show will be easier but less effective? Maybe they will be the SCV of this year? 5. The Cavaliers- This year's show should attract stronger brass. Their show design will be fine. 6. Santa Clara Vanguard- Pays homage to one of their past musical show? Maybe it won't be as well received as it was in the 80s? 7. Boston Crusaders 8. Phantom Regiment- Their most talented brass head to Bluecoats? Show is kind of a miss? 9. Blue Stars- They have the talent, just need the show. 10. Blue Knights 11. Madison Scouts 12. The Troopers- Play another emotional show that the audience is really connected too. 13. Pacific Crest 14. Spirit of Atlanta 15. Oregon Crusaders 16. Crossmen 17. Mandarins 18. Colts 19. The Academy 20. The Pioneer 21. Cascades 22. Jersey Surf
