  1. This is an unofficial thread for people traveling to Indianapolis for Finals Week who want to communicate with each other purely about logistics, including, but not limited to, best places to park, best places to eat, best places to lodge, potential meet-ups in the city of Indy with sub-groups within drum corps, e.g. (Drum corps fans who love Sushi, Drum Corps alumni who love speaking French, etc. etc.), questions about event times, tickets, and seating, and any other logistical questions that will help attendees of Finals. If you have information that could benefit the drum corps community attending this week's Finals, please feel free to post. If you have questions about anything, please post. Thanks!
  2. Hi, I MAY have 1 ticket for 3 nights in Section 139 and 239 for Prelims, Semi-Finals, and Finals available...up to and during Finals week in Indianapolis, Indiana. 2 seats together for each of the three nights. I'm going, but my friend MAY have to back out for one or all of those nights (still too be determined...there may be an imminent death in the family). If you were interested in taking 1 of these seats (I will be attending)....let me know. Prime seats...great location in stadium...we are talking lower bowl...not too close, not too far away. Section 239! My name is Chris. I live in Northern Virginia. I marched Mandarins in 2000. Drum Corps aficionado. cmirandainDC@gmail.com -- please email if interested. Chris
  3. I agree about the trombones...no one cares you are playing a trombone. It's not any more impressive. And the singing is boring. And the talking during shows is so vague and esoteric...it's so lame...the only good talking I saw was when the Blue Knights? did a "Drum Corps murder" or Drum Corps homicide...Can't remember the name...in 2015...with old school radio DJ's. I do like the electronics that Blue Coats have added though.
  4. Can you imagine a show from a corps entitled Propaganda that played audio from Barack Obama and Bill Clinton (as the Cavaliers are doing with Trump and Reagan) in the background...? The hypocrisy of people who politicize every day life who have a left of center viewpoint is astounding. And people have a right to be upset and offended about this double standard. Ronald Reagan's "Tear Down This Wall" speech and policy freed millions of people living under a Totalitarian propagandized regime. How is his speech propaganda when he was standing against propagandized regimes? The Left never believes THEY could be spouting propaganda or espousing an ideology. In the Left's eyes, the right is always ideological, spreading some sort of propaganda. Never them. They are just "doing what works." But if DCI and you all think we should embrace shows like this, then fine, then I'm cool with that. But then allow more partisan shows from the right making even the slightest bit of criticism towards the Left's favorite heroes Obama, Clinton, FDR, etc.. If that happened, you'd hear outcries of "hate speech," "hate mongering," "politicizing shows too much" from those who laud liberal-minded politicians. There will always be a double standard unless this changes. The Cavaliers should seriously re-think who is spouting Propaganda -- it seems they have a little Propaganda problem of their own.
  5. Thought I'd open a new discussion. What are the most moving, tear-jerking moments in this year's corps' shows? You know the feeling you get when shivers go up your spine? Or a tear wells up in your eye... Respond with corps and general moment to watch for...
  6. How political is the Cavies show? Without a spoiler alert...are we talking a show with signs that say "Donald Trump is a fool - vote for Hillary?" or is it more subtle?...most propaganda is subtle by the way.
  7. I'm not a Blue Devils fan, but I have to admit this is a very well-thought out theme and repertoire...and creative.

  12. Question...why are some corps waiting longer than others to announce their show? Like BD, Blue Coats, and SCV? Is it that they are just trying to build anticipation? A logistical thing? Or is there a legitimate competitive advantage of waiting to announce part or all of your show?
  13. Here's some secret advice. Don't tell anyone. ; ) When you are at Lucas Oil during Finals week/weekend, you'll care what you eat, but you'll care even more that's it's quick...so you can get back to watch your shows. Tavern on South...is to the left of the stadium (if you are looking north)...it's at 10 o'clock...northwest part of stadium...walking distance...2 blocks...you run over there...you have some good healthy food...it's grill-type food...steak, salmon, burgers, but they serve veggies!!! Unlike Lucas Oil. You won't feel like a full oil can of junk food after you eat. You run back to the stadium two blocks away...you catch your favorite corps...My friend and I ate there 3 nights in a row and didn't get sick of it. Otherwise, you have to get a cab or Uber go downtown, find some place that's just ok...yatta yatta.
  14. Hi all, I don't mean to be self-righteous about this...but I have been given some free DCI tickets to Finals in Indianapolis (I already have my own set)...at least Finals, possibly Semi-Finals too... I was wondering if anyone knew of someone ... a kid and his or her parent who might not be able to otherwise go to Finals who would love to go if they were given a free ticket? Like maybe someone from the inner city or just a family who doesn't have the money and won't go unless given the opportunity. Please reply with your PRIVATE email if you know of someone and I'll email you back privately. Chris

  16. Guys, choose my corps name. Liberty Force. If you are in the VA, DC, MD, area and are interested in playing in Liberty Force please let me know! Thanks for all your help and creative inspiration!
  17. Respectfully DCP Fanatic, this is a forum for these kind of discussions. The perfect place for a topic like this. Please don't try to politicize drum corps. These are not all the corps that include Canada. These are the World Class Top 12 corps that played it after one of the Final nights. It was handled fine by corps members in the 90s, who didn't see it as a burden to honor America. Intolerance has no place in DCI...including intolerance for America. I'm not asking to make it political -- America the Beautiful isn't political, unless you are inserting politics into everything. We invite the Marine Corps into the Final ceremonies...that's very "American." I'm not even asking this to be a political discussion. I'm simply asking why isn't it played now? And so far there hasn't been an answer. It was done for many years. This is something DCI fans would again embrace.
  18. Hi fellow drum corps fans, I have a question...I must have woke-up from a comma. Last time I checked, all corps played "America the Beautiful" together on Finals Night after the scores had been reported. The worst part is, I asked some people sitting near me last summer, young people, and they said, "Dude, huh? We've never heard of that." This is ashame. Please don't tell me it's because of political correctness or things got "too busy to coordinate,""too much going on so, they couldn't "fit it in." In an age where people ... young people ... are taught that America "stinks," America is "rotten," to the core (no pun intended) this is a DCI tradition that helps people love their country. Isn't playing "America the Beautiful" by all the corps something we can all agree was a good thing? If there's a "lame" reason why they stopped, I'll be starting a petition to bring it back. Count on it. Chris
  19. Hi guys, Love the Stonewall Brigade. And the input on Rush Hour and Corps-Ruption. I think I've come up with an idea...And D.C./VA/MD...if you are interested...let me know...I'm looking for players!! What do you think about... "Freedom Force"... imagine black uniforms with a hint of red, white and blue flag on front shirt...or some kind of small American shield on front...maybe even with an Eagle patch ... and then black hats...and silver gloves. The only concern like you talked about is expectation of playing American music all the time, which I don't want. Too close to "Freedom Drum & Bugle Corps" from Oklahoma?
  20. The Tribe...hmm...that's an option. Same with Signal Corps and Virginia Regiment...hmm... Thanks guys, keep the coming (if you are bored)!
  21. I'm based in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland area, but specifically in Reston, Virginia. I want it to be a tight-knit group...a group that isn't silly but that is serious about the Esprit de Corps, the close-knit honor and pride, of the group, but also that likes to have fun. Something for people 18 and over who never marched drum corps but wish they did, or miss drum corps and want to be in the general activity again. Something that enables people to experience the group closeness again...the synergy...and sorry, no "synergy"...as a name.
  22. Hi all, I'm starting a real SoundSport activity in my local area. I'm wracking my brain as to what I want to call the drum corps/Sound Sport TEAM. I want it to be serious, but not too serious. Nothing cheesy like Apple Corps or Corps-Ruption. Here are the ideas so far... Espirit de Corps Redemption Corps Bold Corps Intrepid Drum & Bugle Corps Rush Hour PLEASE HELP! Need new ideas. Chris

  25. I got a tip on some of the music Crown is playing in 2016. But not sure what the etiquette is for releasing this on this site. Don't want to get my friend in trouble. What do you all think?
