  1. Don't worry; I will. I just came to this conclusion recently after this summer. Just wanted to put it in writing. I know it doesn't really matter but had to speak my peace. I've been pretty silent about it for a while and just felt like it was time to say something. That's all.
  2. I wish you luck in getting seats you want. The top middle section was sold out before I finished my purchase.
  3. I've been getting these mailings for years if I went the year before. That is so weird.
  4. I got a mailing and e-mail saying the tickets went on sale 10/2/17 @ 10 AM EST. You didn't get that?
  5. I am not a Friend of DCI. I bought tickets last year and if you buy tickets a previous year, you can order the 2-night package before it goes on sale to the general public. Maybe it's because you didn't go last year or that you didn't buy a 2-night package.
  6. Totally agree. There was a time where I really liked him although I didn't know him personally or professionally. I just liked the Cadets and because he was the Director I transferred that to him as well. BUT after the last 5 or 6 years of the Cadets heading in the wrong direction competitively, seeing his posts on FB and hearing stories about how difficult he is to work with (1 person I know well so he is trustworthy), I have lost total respect for him and it's time for him to step down before he runs the organization into the ground. He has lost touch with how to be competitive in today's drum corps world and he can't keep good staff. That is a big problem. No other corps' Directors post on FB in such an unprofessional way. A lot of times you're looking up his nose! LOL Any way, I really don't care what happens to the Cadets any more. I feel like they are going to go through a rough patch until someone else takes the reins. Sorry, Cadets. I am stepping off the band wagon after many years of loving how innovative and strong you were. I'm glad George took them there but something has happened along the way and I don't believe it's reversible while he's in charge.
  7. I got my tickets for Allentown next year. It was rough trying to pick 5 seats in the top middle section before other people got them first. I got seats there, but it's not where I would have liked. :-)
  8. It doesn't matter where different staff members go! I reserved my hotel room for Allentown next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Oh yeah, I would like to see more marching of drill. That's what got me hooked on drum corps originally.
  10. Personally, I really like most of the things incorporated in modern day "drum corps." I enjoy the theatrics and the color guards more than ever. However, I believe the music should be live and am not much on the electronics adding to it. It can be great when they work but if they don't, then it pretty much sucks. Having some electronics added to enhance certain parts of the show can even be good but relying so heavily on those enhancements really takes away from the pure sound that I want to hear from the brass and percussion. I am also not a big fan of voice whether spoken or sung. Let the brass "sing" those parts. One of my favorite parts of most corps shows is the ballad. Man, I love hearing the brass "choir" sing those beautiful and haunting melodies. I wish to hear more of those things.
  11. No. Not much of a fan of BD although there is definitely respect for them. I liked their Felliniesque (sp?) show and last year's was pretty good too. Didn't care much for this year's show. Can't pinpoint why though.
  12. 1. SCV 2. Bluecoats 3. Carolina Crown 4. Blue Stars 5, BAC 6. BK 7. Phantom Regiment 8. Crossmen 9. Cadets 10. Mandarins 11. Academy 12. Troopers
  13. what school district were you in? i am from south central PA.
  14. Ah, I see. Doesn't matter what the age of the poacher to me. If my ticket says I own that seat for a night, then I have no problem taking up for myself no matter if the people are rude or not. I won't take it.
  15. He barely got to the formation in time before they started moving! LOL
  16. I sat in section 139 in row 20 and we only had poachers on Finals night. I got there and told the young woman & man that they were sitting in my seats. The young woman apologized and moved right away. There was no attitude and no demand to see my ticket. Mind you, if I would have gotten attitude, I would have reacted very quickly as I won't take crap from someone when I paid good, hard-earned money for a seat that they're sitting in.
  17. Wow! That is so cool. I am disappointed as a fan that the Cadets didn't score higher but that's because I fell in love with the Cadets when they were in the race to medal or win every year. It's hard to see them go down-hill competitively when BD is winning or coming in 2nd every year. With that said, I would never think the members should ever feel bad about placement. Unfortunately, a lot of the judging system is really based on subjectivity. Of course, how well the members play can be judged but things like GE are somewhat a mystery to me as I don't always feel like the top GE scoring corps affects me the way the judges see it. If they left the field knowing that they gave it everything, then how can you ask for anything more? Working your butt off all summer long is something to be proud of. How many kids, or adults for that matter, would spend 12 hours in the summer heat every day to create a show and perform to a crowd? Most would give up and say, "this is too hard," but those kids kept going even when the scores weren't going up as high as they would have liked. That is dedication and commitment. Two qualities that will serve the members well in the future. How can that not be success?
  18. I was there all 3 nights and didn't miss any of the corps once I was there. Our flight was delayed by about 2 hours and we didn't get to Prelims until around 4:20 PM, but I saw all the rest of the corps that night and Friday and Saturday! I don't like missing anything! LOL
