  1. Not sure how this justifies not requiring any audition for a vet. A person from the Blue Devils may decide they don't enjoy the environment there and wants to join a corps like the Blue Knights instead. That person spent a summer with the most successful corps in the history of DCI (so they've proven they've got the cash and the talent), but would it make sense for the Blue Knights to not require an audition for that person? No.
  2. Blue devils? Lol. I really love BD's post 2008 shows yet can't find myself to listen to anything by them before that. They are by no means my favorite, but yeah I do like their recent trajectory.
  3. And which corps would that be? (Just making sure you aren't thinking of the wrong one). Either way, me having a favorite corps does not mean I hate all the others. While a corps may be my favorite, I can still appreciate other styles. I happen to just not like SCV's drill style very much. So not sure what you're trying to get at with that ad hominem.
  4. Any given year. Who saw it coming that PR would fall from 1st to 9th from 08-09? And also, it doesn't necessarily mean SCV got worse, it just means everyone else got better.
  5. Purely off of gut feeling: 1. Cadets 2. Blue Devils 3. Carolina Crown 4. Bluecoats 5. Cavaliers 6. Phantom Regiment 7. Santa Clara Vanguard 8. Boston Crusaders (misses top 7 by 0.1) 9. Blue Knights 10. Madison Scouts 11. Blue Stars 12. Troopers
  6. Giving a vet an in is kinda stupid/insensible. Yes, their experience should put them at an advantage, but not so much that they don't even have to bother attending audition camps.
  7. All of SCV's drill this year looked dirty to me. The intervals always seemed off but looks like that's just a characteristic of the drill, the white unis, or both. Either way, not a fan.
  8. I didn't feel like digging up the BAC 2014 thread so I thought I'd post it here: I've been listening to their 2014 show a lot lately and I'm finding it to be somewhere in my top 3 favorite shows of 2014. The show has so much energy and power (the hornline had some really amazing moments like the major hit before the scatterset and ballad) and came off really well by finals (even though the visual dirt left a bit more to be desired). You can tell the corps was really into it. I'm really excited to see what they do in their 75th and as someone who has never really shown appreciation for this corps, I wish them luck next year breaking into the top 7!
  9. Why not? It's an exciting and big thing, they should treat it as such.
  10. Please make sure not to generalize your opinion to everyone else. I'd personally love a phantom of the opera remake.
  11. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think anyone at PR said anything about making an official announcement of the show.
  12. Yeah not sure what he's talking about
  13. Thank you for clearly articulating what I was trying (unsuccessfully) to get across.
  14. He's hit and miss for me. I loved 2014 and 2012, did not like 2013. He is not as bad as people make him out to be, but I agree that phantom would do well with a different arranger. Some of his arrangements fall pretty flat.
  15. Show design very much plays in to how a corps sounds. You can perform the heck out of crap (for lack of a better word), but that won't make the crap sound good. I have no doubt the Cadets had one of the most talented ensembles on the field this year, as they always do. I'm not hitting on the members/performers at all. There was nothing they could have done to make the corps sound alive this past season. They simply did not sound into it. But this has veered really really off topic and this post is all I have to say on the subject of Cadets 2014.
  16. Doesn't necessarily have to have a piece called "City of Light." It could just include music made by composers from Paris.
  17. Yup, very excited for the Cadets next season. Hoping for another masterpiece like 2013.
  18. I beg to differ. Not a good year for the Cadets, in my opinion. The corps sounded lifeless all season.
  19. Ah okay gotcha. I actually really like that possibility then. Definitely sounds like a different direction for PR if that's the name of the show.
  20. Interesting possibility but does "Summer of City of Light" make much sense?
  21. Here's the link to make it easier for everyone. VOTE to help support PR! http://us.sungevity.org/gives-back
  22. Absolutely. I marched in the Rose Parade and you have to have your repertoire set a year in advance and it cannot be changed. Each piece has to be a certain tempo so that the parade goes on schedule.
  23. Arent a lot of french names hyphenated?
