Well, I’m not going to go research the ‘17 Madison thread to see who said what but I remember people being very vocal in their dislike of the direction that show took.

Scouts tried to break the mold with their 2017 show and these same people were freaking out. Change! Oh, but not like that. I actually admired their attempt.

Twenty-five corps perform on a Friday. It’s been like that for years now, starting in 2011. It’s ironic how you talk about “relevance” but don’t know that simple fact.

I don’t know how he could determine they were “literally” in her yard. I guess some people see what they want.

I get the lack of basic civility if that was someone’s yard and not part of the school grounds. Rude. Many schools kind of blend into the neighborhood if they have a park like setting.

For relevance we need look no further than one of the corps that will probably knock them out of finals. Spirit of Atlanta. A corps that overcame problems of their own not that long ago. They have a great show with contemporary music that looks like a blast to perform for the members. They’ve reinvented themselves while still being true to their spirit.

Self-indulgence to me is designers recycling ideas because they think they’re so great. One of my favorite corps suffered from that for a couple years, I haven’t seen them yet so don’t know if things have changed.
