  1. SoA meets SoA. Bike gangs take over stadia across the United States.
  2. I think the kids are well aware of what the are getting into. Perhaps your post is more about your wishes rather than the kids?
  3. I think a study on the youth that have participated in the South Shore Drill Team in Chicago would be very fascinating. That organization serves an at risk demographic in an at risk area of the city. How many finish high school? How many go on to higher education?
  4. Wow, just when their guard program was being dragged into the 1980's.
  5. 1993? Blue Devils, A Don Ellis Portrait. The guard encircles the brass and bring out the double silks. I don't recall what chart they were playing but it, and the visuals, still pop into my head.
  6. I apologize for getting off track. Back to King brass. Was that rich sound the result of the instruments, instruction or both? I'm leaning toward instruction.
  7. I'm curious as to how you found it refreshing. Refreshing compared to past PR productions or refreshing compared to other corps?
  8. It would be fun if they explored the historical aspects of tango culture rather than strictly the dance medium with which most of us are familiar. It started out quite gritty and was frowned upon by polite Argentine society.
  9. How about a coed corps going with an all male guard? I'm not advocating that but I think it would make heads explode.
  10. I would love to see PR tackle The Passion of Joan of Arc. Perhaps the pinnacle of strong females and a great death to boot. http://youtu.be/FU2qso0RaYg Here's a small clip from the soundtrack. Things get interesting at the six minute mark.
  11. Remove the highest and lowest number, then figure the average. That's based on a college statistics class from 35 years ago so don't quote me.
  12. Madison 2015. Three quarters of the way through the season I fell in love with it. It's a great example to me of de-cheesifying (?) as the season went on.
  13. I guess that explains why Bluecoats have had such crappy placements the last couple years. It's that darn music the kids are listening to on their headphones!
  14. Oh, heck. What's another year? They moved up one place overall!
  15. Even though I've been critical of Pioneer, I beg to differ. They stepped up their game. I'll hold off another season to see what develops.
  16. Wow! Did you not hear any of the music performed this summer?
  17. Phantom Regiment 1996, Defiant Heart. June 20 something. My friends laughed at me when I claimed PR had a winning show. I believe they took third behind Cavies and Scouts that evening. The simple black uniform with the deconstructed chevron was a brilliant idea. Whether it was intentional or not, the chevron looked like the AIDS awareness ribbon. The guard in their blood red baby doll dresses popped against the stark black uniforms. it was an amazing show to watch develop over the course of the summer. I'm still impressed that they proved you didn't have to march fast to win.
  18. The good thing about opinions is that they often evolve. Hopefully yours will one day.
  19. It would be way easier for me to pick maybe three or four that I didn't particularly like. There were some fantastic shows.
  20. I agree with your insights. Even though this is the World Class forum I would include Legends on that list. I'm kind of on the fence about Mandarins but it was great to see them marching a full corps.
  21. BD will expand upon the KPop and call their show Dance Derby of the 21st Century. How do you say Yowza in Korean?
