  1. Maybe it will sound good maybe they can get real creative but this dosent change that I want REAL DRUM CORPS. I was ###### when they added amps and speakers and the key change don't get me going. I'm surprised also this was perpetrated by Madison's administration just a bad idea. Yuck
  2. Scouts made an announcement of offering scholarships for lead trumpet with ability to play double g consistently. So either the brass book is above the ability of anyone currently on or these solo and ensembles that are written for a different era of drum corps when the screamers were more prevalent. Either way hope they find the talent and don't have to water down the book. Sounds like multiple spots are needed.
  3. Nick cannon called them a band then sent the intro to duggie houser who properly introduced them as DCI champs and referred to them as a Carolina crown drum and bugle corps. There were close ups good sound and probably 30 seconds of uninterrupted music. The only group that didn't sound like they were being dubbed over by a recording.

  5. Stadiums have the anchor points they don't supply the cable or cameras that is supplied by the broadcasting company covering the game.
  6. Thanks for the in site into this. I noticed I put SFX meant sfz . Carbon fiber is used in everything these days that requires strength and light weight material. I guess the question is what's the perfect snare sound can it be archived or not. Can somthing be archived if its a personal preference.
  7. I'm curious what if any new technology has been made in snare tech since the advent of the yamaha sfx line debut. I'm sure just because they still use a free floating design doesn't mean there hast been advances in the tech. Also what changes could still be made to improve snares. Or is it as good as it ever will be.
  8. Hey if the scouts are going jazz they need the cymbal line back for sure. I think that the snare line will definitely need some for the cymbal rides built into the show plus some real head choppers. Also need a sixth bass for that low end thump. Also might as well make it 10 snares and 6 tenors or better yet bring back the 8 ball tenor line. Half as many tubas a third more trumpets personally do away with the guard and add more of everything else.
  9. Happy this has gotten some great replays. My favorites so far are foo fighters, hoobastank, Linkin park, Phil Collins and incubis. I won't put the energy into looking up who said I was confusing the topic by saying some obscure band and calling them mainstream was an attempt at being hip. Far from it. O.A.R was at one time underground college kid type band that played small venues but I guarante you they are more well know now than ever there music was the anthem of college kids everywhere this past decade. Anyways props to those who went the extra mile And listed a song line up. Anyone who writes the score and drill for the show you get no extra points unless it hits the field.
  10. Just listening to some music tonight got me thinking about a hypothetical question. Who would you design a show around when it comes to a modern main stream group. I for one would choose O.A.R. very talented group with a lot of great songs that tell some good stories. Who would you choose?
  11. Yeah you won't find any mention of Drum corps besides top secret but there was video of a blue knights snare drummer Performing a stick trick I believe he was section leader because I remember him from a show. Also I'm not sure which corps it is but Another video of a 3 dimensional rotating pyramid drill that is on there. That video is from Indy you can read the DCI banners in the back ground.
  12. Wow this is great the site now has spell check. I know just wasnt paying attention thanks for adding to the discussion.
  13. If you haven't checked the Chive.com or there app you should it is all things awesome. Which is why I have been seeing Drum corp being posted to the site. The content is most likely submitted by drum corp fans/chive fans. Just another way to bridge the gap between those in the know and those on the outside.
  14. Any thoughts on scouts 14 show maybe a announcement at the 75 year anniversary shindig? Or are cards being kept closer this year?
  15. Thats prob why I thought it would work well. Sry I was to lazy to research on my own. Thanks
  16. Heard house of the rising sun sung last night and thought that it would make for a power full arrangement on the field has anyone done this. Feels like a 90's BD song to me
  17. So based on your rationale the scouts were the most modern corp of 2013 with songs from modern warfare a game first produced in late 2000's
  18. If anyone involved with drum corps allows woodwinds I'm done this crap has gone far enough. When woodwinds are introduced its no longer drum corps its band.
  19. What's the fire Dept. Incident of 2002 never heard that one please share
