You can ask for it all you want, and there are things i'd change about tour, but things are the way they are for multiple reasons: 1. The tour is basically the same every year to make it easier on show planners and housing sites. If a show\housing site in Alabama can expect to have an event\corps in late july every year it makes it easier to plan for rather than figuring out differing logistics\conflicts each time. As much as i wish we could at least mess with the regional order (i'd love to run it in reverse, give Minneapolis or Denver allentown's 'last before finals' position sometimes.) this is one reason it probably wont happen. 2. "give a few years notice and they can deal with it". Yeah, you see its easy to say that, but most of them arent exactly running enough in the black they can just 'save up'. As far as 'just stay home', sorry but i dont think thats a good answer. Groups that havent gone before wont be massively hurt by the status quo staying the same, whereas i dont really want to see a corps that has gone to dci finals for decades be told '#### you if you cant afford it'. 3. Show density. Aside from california, shows are far and between once you get west of I-35. This makes for some looong drives that corps have a hard time breaking down into separate days because there are few show sites (and more corps rolling through there probably wouldnt increase the demand, its a population density thing). I remember that 07 tour as i was driving big chunks of it. That last stretch had some long drives. Meanwhile the distances going across the midwest\south are much shorter, which makes life easier on everyone.

Ive gone to the Waukee, IA show most years. And was going to go again to see my sister perform (otherwise i mightve skipped, the show got hosed with its lineup this year) and today found out cascades wont be there, theyre taking off a week from shows in july that were previously on the schedule. I'll agree with this. Usually im no narration fan, but i thought the narrator character added a lot to this show on the whole, but that part should have been cut.

Yeah, there is not much other media that is only a couple hours long that runs anywhere near this price. If anything prices are going down for most stuff.

Yeah, that was a mistake, imo. Dont know why that change was made, brass was working for them. Oh well.

That seems simple. At a certain point at the top end, minute differences in execution dont have much impact on the effectiveness of the show.

Is there a date for finals week next year? I hate the dome, but i may have work putting me in Indy that week so i might have to drop in.

Ankeny 2003. Ended up seeing Dekalb (great 2 day show with a bunch of the east coast corps there), and indianapolis that summer as well.

We accept ###### service for stuff that 'just works' most of the time, and only because we have no other choice. We accept cable customer service sucking because ideally you deal with them rarely and lets be honest, what's your option? There's no other option other than cutting the cord. Of course the number of those doing that is rising by the day. We accept ###### customer service from phone companies because they all suck, and therefore it does no good to complain. We cant just have no phone.Additionally most of the time we dont deal with them aside from replacing a phone. We accept bad customer service at mcdonalds and walmart because hey, its cheap. However,if the product sucks, and the product is expensive people wont be so forgiving. People will just cancel. And DCI cant afford that.

If theyre equal in that caption it should be null between those corps.

Yeah, this. If theyre imperceptibly different to the judge, it seems like they should be the same score. A .1 margin can be a big difference in the end so why give that margin where you think there is none? We have a whole bunch of judges at one show, so if one caption ties its not that big of a deal.

Seems like that tends to work out wherever it happens.

That might be my favorite. One of the last times i remember really liking BD, probably the craziest drill Cavaliers put on the field, Cadets malaguena was awesome (and very memorable to me) and phantom 03 was just a very solid show, great musically.

As recent as 05 or so we had more shows it seems. The loss of DCM cost a lot of midwest shows.

Its a sport. People boo the officials in EVERY sport when they disagree with their call. God knows i've done my share of booing at college football and basketball games. And the kids are all old enough to know its aimed at the judges. Hell, even if it was directed at them they should be old enough to take it well enough. Hell, as a college marching band member i went into a stadium where we were getting booed more than once. That was fun as hell.

They may not prove it according to the incredibly flawed judging system, but in the eyes of the audience they proved it a long, long time ago.

And i'm thinking youre blinded by the fact that youre a hardcore fan.

And thats the problem.

It may be priced to maximize revenue from existing customers, but it is also priced at a level that minimizes the NEW customers DCI so desperately needs. And this seems to be the philosophy DCI takes with everything and one reason it is shrinking.

Almost all of those who will stream are those who wouldnt be able to go anyways. $40 isnt going to be the difference between going to finals and not.. If anything it would increase live attendance long-term through increasing exposure.

Because there isnt a middle ground? For instance, $20 for a stream version?

Because DCI is clearly on that level of brand.
