  1. Oh, come on everybody, don't over-react. Crown's percussion is fine. I mean, why do they need to compete with the top battery lines? I mean, there are corps that would be thrilled to be in the top 6. Percussion is soo competitive. Crown even brought in new people this year and they have turned a corner in percussion, haven't they? With the new people the percussion has brought in, no one should expect a turn around in the section for three years or so. Consequently, no one should be concerned in the least, right?
  2. Dude, How many people bother me? If these people take my statement wrong, there is an easy solution, don't read them. I have many people, whose comments (e.g., yours), that bother me, but generally do not address them publically in this public forum. I just don't seem to get the same respect that I attempt to get other individual readers and posters. Oh, and this is just an aside, do you think I care if I "bother" people on this board???? See, ladies and gentlemen, it is easy to attempt to embarrass people in on a public board (e.g., caliswift and Dash fieldpaint) than it is send me a private message which I've offered to both of them.
  3. I never said it was, caliswift. Never. Can people that disagree with me do so in message and let other readers and responders enjoy the board? I'll give you the opportunity to air your grievance against me there once. So, make the best of it. Again, I'm sorry that people are spending time trying to keep me from offering an opinion by using the Crown 2015 board to do it.
  4. I'm allowed to caliswift. It's called opinion. If you have a problem with my opinion, don't read it. Again, to all the readers and responders of the forum, I apologize for people, who dislike my comments, now making Crown 2015 about me.
  5. Hey Cappy...can you see the difference in Crown Lead Sop's replay and Dash Fieldpaint's. It's night and day. One is a genuine inquiry (Crown Lead). One is pointless and seems designed to get me to shut up (Dash). I apologize to all readers of this forum for the personal aside from Dash and my need to respond. Back to the relevant discussion.
  6. We have some history, Cappy. There is back story. Sorry, I know from Dash's isolated comment, it doesn't seem that way.
  7. Dash...If you have a problem with me I will unblock you from messenger. Don't bring your issues with me on the board, please. I will take your post directly to a mod. If you don't like my opinion, don't read it! In case you were unaware, every opinion is one' own and I don't need to represent Crown or its alumni to have an opinion.
  8. Is Crown done making significant changes to the show?
  9. Tekk, unlike Crown (e. g., percussion), the Cadets do not typically allow staff that perform worse that the members stay around long, it seems.
  10. One can also hope that Torchia is not on a finals panel. Sorry, but the bias seems very clear. I did not say this because I want Crown to win, but because this judge is not necessarily fair to many drum corps.
  11. Crown should be proud, they will likely place second with a fantastic show. But, the percussion again, is the Achilles heel as it was in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
  12. True, cf144, but in 2013, percussion was the only weakness. This year visual is a problem as well as percussion.
  13. Sorry, Tobias, I disagree. This would be the case if BD was weaker in guard, but they are not.
  14. Sorry, Plan 9, Crown's percussion score is an anomaly that does not yet represent consistency of performance or instruction. It should not surprise anyone on the forum if their percussion score stays the same from Allentown through finals.
  15. Sorry Cappy,, I wanted to be honest without being offensive and sometimes both just don't go together.
  16. I can own it Cappy. I have no problem with that. So, I'll say it like this little interest is little interest. They have tried to bandaid the issue, but to quote a famous line, until they show someone the money, it will not change. Again, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. Some want to throw talent under the bus. Stop trying to fix the symptom and cure it.
  17. Way to pounce Cappybara, you definitely have learned the way of DCP communication and dialogue :).
  18. I mean no offense, wilme861. I did not mean to suggest that Crown does not care about percussion intentionally, but they definitely have had difficulty finding a good fit. For whatever reason, they just have not been as successful in this section as in the other sections. It just leads some to wonder why. I marched with Crown as well.
  19. Sorry, mboogey73. I didn't mean to give the impression that Crown doesn't care about percussion. It may not have been their focus for legitimate reasons or the "name" doesn't pan out, but Crown has had some "names."
  20. See, I've heard the people on this board for the last couple of years say, "Oh, Hannum coming to write for Crown will draw the talent and make the percussion better." Didn't happen. "Oh, Angst coming will draw the talent and make them better?" Really, Lee Beddis couldn't turn Crown into a medal contender, especially in 2010 and 2011. The idea that a "big name" is just going to draw talent or make a better percussion section seems to be a weak argument. Again, I'm not angry. I'm just trying to cut through some of the smoke screens that seem to come up when Crown percussion is discussed.
  21. I'm sorry wilme861, why did you copy my response rather than mboogey73? People are offering excuses and really not legitimate ones in my opinion. mboogey is absolutely right. Crown has not committed itself to being a championship contender in percussion for whatever reason. It's a statement of fact. It's not a slam necessarily. They may have legitimate reasons for doing so. Wilme861, your comment seems to suggest that California has more talented percussionists than does the East Coast. Am I interpreting you correctly?
  22. Thank you for the support in dispelling the myth that it takes YEARS to build a medalling percussion section, mboogey73. Rennick made the impact immediately.
  23. So, Crown hasn't been building since 2010, Tobias? It did not take years for SCV to rebuild when Rennick came on staff it seems to me. George, sarcasm is generally a response for a perspective of truth one cannot handle. I'm just sharing what the historical data suggests.
  24. mboogey73, It is now safe to say now that Crown administration seems to have little interest in building a competitive percussion line. The battery seems to be filler as long as the brass and guard can carry the corps into medal contention. Now, before all the homer, blind loyalists, or other start giving me a lot of grief, Crown's percussion has not contributed to their overall placement in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and now 2015.
