  1. It was not a TOC show. The other corps there were Boston, Troopers, Academy, Cascades, and Pioneer.
  2. Okay, it's prediction time! 1. BD (unlike the other 3 horses in the race for 1st, they had an extra day to clean the show) 2. Crown (will be very close between them and BD) 3. Cadets (also hanging tight with the other 3, but not as much time to clean major weaknesses) 4. Bluecoats (cf. Cadets) 5. SCV (may inch a tad closer to Top 4? We'll see) 6. Phantom Regiment (not sure how they got that much better over Cavies in A-Town, but I'll take it) 7. Cavaliers (IMO too dirty to stand a chance against the other 6) 8. Blue Stars (...yeah. But their show is entertaining nevertheless.)
  3. Hate to be on the bad side of this amazing corps, but when was the last time BD lost all three major regionals in the season? My guess is 2005 or 2006.

  5. WEATHER UPDATE (again): Scattered storms could hit between 9pm and 11pm, according to Wunderground.
  6. Got back from the Stars' rehearsal about 25 minutes ago and currently catching up on the Allentown thread. About their show. When I first heard about the Blue Stars' program last fall, I was intrigued. How were they going to pull off the concept of a dark circus? How "dark" was this circus going to be? I was quite surprised to find out that this show is very entertaining and engaging. The "dark" moments that I was expecting were actually a "fun" dark, not a creepy or dreary dark. And the carnival barker actually added to the visual program, which kind of requires one to look around the field for the many activities going on throughout. Especially enjoyed the trombone ensemble, the ballad, and the new ending, which is a "grand finale" featuring many of the acts performing one last time and the "ringmaster" coming to the front of the field along with the rest of the corps. The percussion and guard are simply stellar. The brass is a bit weak, however. Granted they're playing Jupiter horns, but still, I did not experience any major "chills" moments from them. Weather did play a factor in tonight's rehearsal. On our way here, we saw a double rainbow prior to experiencing a quick "summer storm" (without lightning, thankfully). Another double rainbow made an appearance during ensemble, and there were some on-and-off sprinkles during that time. For the full run, though, the skies stayed dry. Also, the stadium was not used today. Instead, there was a field painted behind the stadium and the scaffolding tower was set up, so I was watching ensemble from ground level. Two unfortunate things happened during the run tonight: the high striker prop was not used, and there were some mic problems with the flugel soloist during the fortune teller part. Otherwise, it was a great run! Again, very entertaining show, and I can't wait to see it in full uniform tomorrow night!
  7. CORRECTION: Blue Stars will be rehearsing at West Senior High School, 3330 Seneca St., West Seneca, NY.
  8. He may be slow to the field at awards ceremonies, but man, his facial expressions are everything.
  9. Did somebody say "The Abyss?""Two demons sat on a flaming boulder..."

  11. Anyone here know the schedule for today? I'm coming to the rehearsal at West Seneca East HS!
  12. Does "Best Drum Major" translate to "Cutest Drum Major?" If so, that would have to go to Adora Choquette of the Blue Knights. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
  13. He's been around for a few years now. I know he also judges in my band's state conference (NYSFBC).
  14. My bold prediction... NO ONE from outside last year's Top 12 will make Finals!
  15. WEATHER UPDATE: Many weather sources are claiming there is a possibility of scattered showers and/or thunderstorms around the start of the show. I don't want to disagree, but looking at the weather radar, I see very, very sporadic activity in terms of showers. At this point, it's too hard to tell if there will even be a shower at that time. I'm still holding out hope that this is just weather people messing with us and that the show will go on without a single drop of rain!
