Cash easy to verify?? Ha! It’s the easiest to steal/hide/lose. I mean, I guess it’s easy to verify what's left lol.

AP verification is directly proportional to the integrity of the AP Treasurer.  (And surely SCV has two different people for the roles of AR and AP, right??? Not foolproof but still…)

For the record, I’m not in the “yay we r back” crowd lol. The forces of darkness within me won’t allow that to happen until people are held accountable and SCV is competitive again. That will take YEARS

Does SCV maintain "competitive inertia" with the year off? 😉

I don’t specialize in Government & NFP accounting so there may be a regulation about the specific (mis)use of these types of funds and possible resulting lawsuits, though I can’t say for sure given that we don’t actually know whether the funds were misappropriated or not. Everything could be perfectly fine - just that the accounting manager did a terrible job of maintaining records and evidence - or their stated numbers could be completely off due to fraud or error, there just isn’t evidence to say one way or the other.

Thanks for the perspective!  Yah i think there's enough ambiguity here to basically say, "Let's keep watching and hope that the 2023 audit and 2024 audit can clear it up."

Otherwise, somebody's "cookin with the books"

I am an auditor at a public accounting firm and can clarify the accounting lingo and provide some general insights into this report, AMA.

I'll take up an AMA too.

I sense a lot of "well the numbers don't seem like outright lies to us here and the math checks, but if something breaks about where that Bingo money went, don't come at us with a lawsuit, bro!" in this letter.

    Is that an accurate read?

  4. In this case, I suspect it'd be less an issue of the camp location going without power etc. and more a logistics nightmare when half the camp is texting in to their caption heads, "Hey my flight is cancelled.  I'm delayed 3 hours, wait 4 now." etc.  Some of them would no sooner get there and it'd be a done camp and time to leave.

Particularly where the main airports in would be O'Hare and perhaps Midway...both of which where if a bird craps on a runway, everything is delayed.

  5. State governors don't have say over even state institutions.  It'd likely be a matter of the president as delegated to the provost level to approve space and facility usage alongside the athletics directors.  And you can bet, they'll charge a premium.

I wonder what Bloo paid Indiana Wesleyan for their spring training camp?  And what they're paying Mount Union now?

They'd have better luck with the small private institutions tbh.  The big state schools that are D1 have their football teams out there in the summer.  Also the small institutions might be more desperate for the income than the big program schools.

According to the MBTA, the  Kraft Group paid for track upgrades, built the station, and will be responsible for upkeep of the station. The service itself is funded by the MBTA and fares. Daily service from Foxboro is supposed to start soon, so there may not be a need for special trains. However with all the woes the T has experienced lately, rail service may not be a selling point.

Oh that's new then.  It's been ages since I lived up there now and it was a "Kraft owns this station and it's only open at his behest."

There’s train service for football and soccer.  Could be for this.  Lots of local hotels and a Cape vacation too!

Unless it's changed, train service for the sport ball teams was paid for by the sport ball teams to MBTA.  I doubt DCI has the cash for that

  8. The Gillette idea isn't half bad actually considering it would shorten travel for some.  But it'd mean negotiating for an NFL stadium of course.  And the cost.

Although those making the Ohio shows between Allentown and Finals would have to back track.  So yeah.  Bloomington or West Lafayette make the most sense if not somewhere in Ohio.

Ford Field is there, would probably work, but again its about negotiating the use of the place and the cost.

  9. Maybe next year align with the actual 12 days of Christmas?  😁

Anyway this seems like a good place to talk about the Rose Parade bands!

Toho Marching Band from Japan was fantastic. Even did drill in the TV zone.   Castle HS sounded fantastic as did William Mason...who had ranks NAILING that hard greater than 90 degree turn with a wide inside arc to guide ranks.
