  1. Any insight into why the percussion score was so low at NightBEAT?
  2. Here's a link to the real narration in "Taming The Dragon" Perhaps the Bluecoats' design team will make the narrative more "spicy" by using the words, mo-f-r, s--t and d-bag? https://mojim.com/usy181479x1x12.htm
  3. The tickets for the Luke Combs concert went on sale last November and my understanding was that it sold out quickly. The CMA "entertainer of the year" is definitely a bigger draw in Atlanta than DCI could ever hope to be. With these two concurrent events in close proximity, parking and traffic will be a nightmare. My stereotype of the average country music fan attending this concert has them traveling in some big ### "carnival truck" needing parking, not coming via MARTA.
  4. Since it's a converted baseball stadium, I'd suspect that concert side isn't exactly parallel to how the field lies. Makes for some interesting sight lines.
  5. “You know man, the only way I'm gonna put something out there like that, is if I'm ready to dance with that cat. You know what I mean? You put something out there and there's consequences, you know? All you got are your actions man, and remember, words are actions too, you wanna dance with that dude?”
  6. Script for “Riffs and Revelations” I had this trippy dream where this cat was driving me around in an old convertible. Later on it turned into a VW van and near the end it was more like this spaceship kind of thing We were high up looking over the road but the front console was shaped like a van and it still had the convertible top The guy who was driving me around was an older dude, an old hipster with a weathered voice, kind of like Lou Reed’s After trombone solo – He kind of had some of that vibe and energy of Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider Yeah, like if you could imagine a cross between Lou Reed and Dennis Hopper, that's the dude who was driving After opener/contra solo – We were heading due north coming up to a stop light. The light was beautiful in the dream, with all that nice washed-out orange from the pollution. I had this happy feeling in my stomach but also like this scared feeling like something was gonna happen but I didn't know what. Anyhow as we approached the light all of a sudden this cat in a sports car came out of nowhere and just cut us off My man slammed on the brakes and narrowly averted a mash-up, got my blood boiling but I wasn’t the one driving After car wheels thing – Yeah, so wouldn’t you know it, we pulled right up behind that cat at the light and there he was glaring at us through his rear view He was all like “Yeah that’s right I cut you off, what are you gonna do about it?” So I said to Lou Reed/Dennis Hopper (I'll just call him Lou now), Man, aren’t you gonna say something to that guy? But Lou just looked straight ahead and said, “You know man, the only way I'm gonna put something out there like that, is if I'm ready to dance with that cat. You know what I mean? You put something out there and there's consequences, you know? All you got are your actions man, and remember, words are actions too, you wanna dance with that dude?” KEYTAR SOLO! You know, now I realize that Lou was driving me around and I wasn’t even thanking him. At first I thought he was kind of a bad influence, but actually he was taking care of me, watching my back, talking me down from something. It’s funny how sometimes in dreams, you don’t realize who’s your friend. Looking back maybe all these different people were you in your dreams. And they’re there to lead you to either good or trouble. Yeah, but maybe like that crazy dude in the other car was me as well. Like you got this one part of you that watches out for you, keeps you steady, and this other part that's raging, full of anger. Like old Lou and the crazy dude in the dream, they're all a part of you. Crowd: “BLOO!” You know, I think of it like taming a dragon. The dragon is the crazy dude, and if you don’t watch out he’ll bite you hard. You see Lou knows about the dragon, he’s there to set you straight. You don’t try to kill the dragon, you wanna make friends with it, harness its powers so you can use them. But I only realized that when I woke up.
  7. I think it's a blessing Cadets are bypassing Atlanta this weekend. Having two simultaneous events at venues about a mile-and-a-half apart seem to be ingredients for a total traffic #### stew. And not to mention the 10-day Atlanta weather forecast predicts a greater than 50% chance of thunderstorms.
  8. Since Luke Combs will be the headline attraction at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 30, the DCI Southeastern Regional was moved to the Georgia State football stadium (reconfigured Turner Field/Centennial Olympic Stadium). DCI decided to have the 2019 Top Six corps (Blue Devils, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard) appear at both the Southeastern Championship on Saturday, July 30 and NightBEAT in Winston-Salem on Sunday, July 31. All the other competing corps were assigned to one or the other show, not both: Atlanta 7/30: The Academy, Blue Stars, Genesis, Gold, Madison Scouts, Mandarins, Music City, Phantom Regiment, Winston-Salem 7/31: Blue Knights, The Cadets, Colts, Crossmen, Jersey Surf, Pacific Crest, Troopers 755 Hank Aaron Dr SE
  9. Rear View Mirror was the Cadets show originally planned for the 2020 season.
  10. Am I the only one who sees the irony that there was no one available at the University of North Texas who could judge brass?
