I wonder if the trombone segment is seen as a bit of a one trick pony. It’s totally unique and interesting but is it worth the amount of time it takes up in the show?

Execution is always going to be what it has been for BD as long as they are able to become the destination corps for age outs. I appreciate that they do what they do, it’s just not interesting to me. Tis whar tis.

Are people really complaining that there isn’t enough going on in this show? It seems pretty intense to me. I do question some of the staging though. The big prop sits backfield most of the show so when soloists are on it they are virtually invisible. Kind of an unusual production fail for Bluecoats from a staging standpoint that I hope they fix.

New endings for Crown and Coats will matter.

Assume there is a new ending coming. Overall it’s pretty obvious the talent level and overall production values of Bluecoats is staggering. I’ve been a BC homer since Tilt, still am. But this is my least favorite show in this era. Don’t get me wrong, they will medal and deserve to. Just doesn’t have the magic for me.

I’m all for the costuming trend and have liked everything BC has done, but am not a fan of these costumes. The wavey sleeves makes them look sloppy, and the colors are too muted to make a big corps-wide impression like their last three shows.

The props don’t seem to mean anything to the show concept FWIW and it seems like the main focus was to play as loud as you can for as long as you can.

Eh that’s your opinion, which is fine. Show reveals are fun, and they create anticipation for the home show reveal.

I don’t find this show weird though. The theme is weird I guess? But the narration and even the solos seem like a parallel to BD.

Well I would say on that you would be dead wrong, since their show reveals for the last six seasons have blown people away.

Nashville just approved the construction of a new indoor stadium that will seat around 60,000. Would be perfect for Finals.

I’ve been listening to Session 44 this week, and it just blows me away to this day. I remember when I saw it on opening night, I thought it was a bit to low key. But now it is hands down one of my favorite shows of all time. What a season 2018 was!

I am not in a position to understand details of SCV’s situation, most notably their financial situation. Why has BD seemed to be fine with world class staff and programming, while SCV—right down the road—has been on the veritable edge of insolvency? Does anyone know?

I think 2023 will be a return to medaling for Crown. They are just due for a good show design.
