There is a part of me that likes how they remain “Blue Devils” in their costuming. I really loved their guard costumes this year. But wouldn’t it be shocking if they flew out from behind a big prop wearing neon Jammies? A boy can…dream.

fwiw Brent announced BD as the defending gold medalist. As far as I am concerned, they are currently 2-peaters.

I predict BD will do thematic costuming for the first time. (Yes I know they edge into this but next year they will truly go all in.) How’s that for a bold prediction?!

What I love is that despite Bloo being a near perennial medalist—I have no clue what their next show will be. Except that it will be surprising and obtuse while also at the same time being an absolute blast to watch. Blast…no pun intended.

I thought the set design was really lacking, but the performances were good.

I would love to hear corps staff address this. But to keep it comes down to having a design thinking philosophy based on story telling. Crown had a terrific season. They are one of the best corps in the world. They just made some bad design decisions. Bluecoats made similar mistakes with Jagged Line.

Does Madison have the budget to hire that staff?

I wonder how Boston’s success will impact east coast recruiting. Any thoughts on this?

So you are predicting that Bluecoats, Crown and SCV don’t medal next year, assuming of course BD does?

I don’t feel like Crown lost ground. Boston and Bluecoats simply gained more ground. Crown was terrific, just a bit behind two world class corps performing two of their best shows ever.

Every human is biased by their experiences and lack thereof. This is inarguable. To somehow believe that judges are not biased is to set up a complete fallacy of outcomes. The way to minimize bias is to point out where bias is perhaps coloring a persons conclusions and balance them with many other qualified judges. Which is what DCI tries to do.

I claim to be biased. Because it is not possible to be unbiased. I didn’t say this to insult you or anyone, it is a simple fact.

Eddie’s point is that all people are biased, to think that officials are somehow able to see things in an unbiased way is naive.

Even though there are aspects of competition that I don’t like, I do believe that without scoring a lot of the interest around the activity would disappear.

I don’t know that half of the fabric did anything for GE. Esp the sloppy red ribbon that tied members together. Just another thing for the kids to worry about.

Every human is biased. That is my point. There is no such thing as an unbiased person. The way to overcome bias is to have many biased people seeking to be aware of their bias, together. DCI does a pretty good job of this, IMO.

Personally I would love a jazz show. Like real free style jazz. When Bloo gives space for performers to perform and improvise it is magic.

They just need better design thinking. They are phenomenally talented. They just gotta resist the urge to keep pushing more stuff onto the field, and trust the story.
