  1. Troopers show is about discovering oil. Uniforms and concept based on the movie There Shall Be Blood. Casper WY has oil derricks scattered throughout their town and has a history like what is depicted in the show. The girl plays an electric cello that gradually turns from traditional cello sound into heavy metal guitar with the melding of Metallica and old west movie soundtrack. She plays her instrument well. Hints of Troopers of old scattered through the show, but a new edgy tone. Sunburst around the Derrick prop even.
  2. End of Troop. Sunrise in the East to Sunset in the West. The props change direction as the show progresses. Got a real sunset too. Good timing Troop.
  3. The New Road West. Pointing west. All I know is they use them to help with a uniform change.
  4. Troop is going on now. Gabe just did his "Stomp". As per Troopchat. Would love some details from the venue.
  5. If you could post some pics that would be cool. Would love to see the uniforms. Go TROOP!
  6. Just returned from the Troopers preview show. The music is fantastic. Brass is loud and the music has some emotional moments. The brass was so loud you couldn't hear the percussion when they were playing. The big moment of the opener (Black Parade) is AWESOME. Movement 2 is very rhythmically diverse and challenging to march I'm sure. The ballad sounded mostly original around the main theme of Both Sides Now" …. very moving. The original closer by Robert W. Smith has hints of the past and a real western feel. We were disappointed they weren't in uniform for the stand still, but everything I have seen is very cool in regards to uniforms. Traditional with a nod of modern. Anticipating a wardrobe change during the ballad. Looks like there is time to add some length to the show and add some features. The kids are very positive and had a great camp in Casper. Hoping for a great tour and not to be slotted right of the bat. Looks like Troop is starting the World Class portion of their first few shows performing before Academy and Mandarins, two corps that should be right along side the Troop all year. BTW - No Willie Nelson or Barbara Streisand or Sound of Music. (This is a good thing!)
  7. Will be interesting to see how Robert W. Smith will tie these songs together along with some original music. Hoping for some new uniforms as well. Sounds like it will be an older and more experienced corps this year.
