  1. This Easter/Passover weekend in NYC there was a flurry of publicity about Free Players. CBS radio repeated throughout the day a blurb about the corps going to DCA Williamsport, PA this coming Labor Day weekend. Details were given about a GoFundMe page the corps has established to help raise the $50K they are seeking for transportation, hotels, food, and necessities to be the first special needs drum corps to be part of DCA Championship weekend. Interviews with their center snare capt. and with another member hyped the enthusiasm so alive in Free Players as well as the members' anticipation in taking on all of DCA. It was priceless publicity which bewitched the usually cynical NY media with the mms innocence, hope, and comraderie. Williamsport, you have been put on notice!!! πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2019/04/19/special-needs-drum-corps-to-make-history-by-competing-at-world-championships/

    2019 Drum Corps Tour

As of now, I don't foresee viewing in person any shows this summer. Funding and mobility are just not there.

Cathedral... Great show idea. Maybe BAC still has the 2006 arch props (usually referred to as "the bottle openers") from several seasons back. Much music would be available for such a show idea, past, present, and perhaps future.

Yes, mixed metaphors above. Just as a show about the Beach Boys and another about the war of 1776 aren't the same focus, so a show about Paris and another about St. Joan d'Arc (burned to the stake at Rouen, not Paris) aren't the same. (Rouen is where traditionally French kings were crowned except for Napoleon, who in Paris was crowned Emperor, not a "mere" king.) cf. Will Pitts for the 3 credits in Franco History after Valenzuela has marked your tuition paid.

It's Holy Week and Passover. You have to be forgiven. Yes, the Upstate corps never seemed to afford the toll monies across the Hudson. The only time the L.I. corps usually saw Upstate corps was at Legion States usually held in Binghampton but never with any judging not from the Rochester-Syracuse-Binghampton triangle. You can guess the results. P.S. Bing-hampton is no where near Hampton Bays, Southampton, North Hampton, East Hampton or Westhampton and Beach; that is, those Hamptons the rest of the world knows about and which comprise the southern of the twin forks at the end of L.I.
  11. Did not Carolina Crown also do something similar previously with some of its composers?!! I can remember the tweet by Peter Lovett Cooper hailing them. And Cadets had the visit to camp by the John Mackey whose works were later familiar in several corps books. Bloo is but continuing a wonderful tradition, and kudos to them.

Typical upstater forgetting L.I. once again with its five or six circuits back in the day, DCA winning Sunrisers, Jr. contender Selden Cadets, All-Girls DCI winner St. Ignatius, 15th place DCI and Am. Legion champ Long Island Kingsmen, World Class instructor and DCI judge/DCI HoFer Paul Litteau who spent time with the USAF at Westhampton Beach while teaching the Medford Golden Grenadiers, natives such as Wayne Downey (Smithtown Freelancers marcher who went on to teach SCV and BD), Kevin & Moe Smith (St. James Saints marchers, directors, before founding Carolina Crown,) etc., etc., etc.

Menomonie in Wisconsin just lost one of its celebrity citizens who helped distinguish it from that other place in Michigan. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/obituaries/2019/04/04/charles-sanna-man-behind-swiss-miss-cocoa/Mmb1esdEsMJtoKWPb2McrO/story.html?et_rid=706132600&s_campaign=todaysheadlines:newsletter
  18. Without Jan's quiet agreement, the Cavaliers wouldn't have lasted past that early boy scout troop. All DCIers owe her a debt of gratitude for the corps and for DCI. My prayers are with Don for their long, blessed marriage, his family, The Cavies, and their wonderful legacy for us to follow as an example.

When will the Cavaliers be officially announcing that they are from Texas? Happy for you Capt. Hook that you are happy.
  21. Congrats to Encorps and its director Pat Petrillo, another Cadets alum doing great things for others. (He also marched Bridgemen in his dynamic career with those drum sticks.)πŸ˜„

Is it mere coincidence that Dallas, Houston, and Austin...all in Texas...have places named Rosemont? May his Illinois version be a blessing for Monte.

Will the costuming for 2019 shred the Aussies and instead wear Vikings helmets??? (no, not the football team gear in MSP.)
  24. His creds seem might suspicious or has the poster forgotten The LaCrosse Blue Stars Guard in 1972 or Garfield Cadets Guard in 1977 and 78???
