  1. Maybe Cadets should start collecting that "licensing copyright" for all those great Cadet alums now teaching at other corps (such as BAC and Coats, etc.) as not enough room in A-town.
  2. But will there again be that great rainbow after the sudden cloud burst? What about the ground fog after temperatures dropped and Crown's hornline was challenged? Great show; loved my Walleye dinner at the Radisson on the river that night.
  3. I am re-posting this from The Cadets' thread (with a presumption that Mr. Dixon, in his magnanimous spirit for the love of all things drum corps would not object. If so, I apologize.) When the Open Class qualifications were re-stated and the new financial requirements placed for future World Class membership, I immediately wondered what DCI would ultimately look like if this applied to every corps now in order to compete in DCI 2020. Would DCI ultimately be only California corps and the Boston Crusaders?
  4. usually counts were only at Championships (although sometimes at Regionals if there was a rumor of a challenge) by the contest committee (T. DiCarlo and krew.)
  5. sometimes it is a question of what insurance policies stipulate. Some consider youth 18 and under. Some 21 and other. Some insure the organization without stipulation of membership. Today some policies are more specific if non-adults participate. Depends on policy type and what State one is working with when policy is written.

  7. Psst. Check the corps web page. Isn't Dartmouth in MA, no PA? (Excellence in ALL things wins championships.)
  8. Why is Rutgers Stadium not M. Cesario's favorite place in the Garden State???
  9. Today, Nov. 22nd is the feast day of St. Cecilia, patroness of musicians. (Yup, brass players & percussionists including string players as she's normally pictured with a harp or a string lyre. Brass players probably have two as so often the Archangel Gabriel is featured with his clarion bugle.) Best of everything for all auditioning this weekend.
  10. except if you are a good hockey player. If they shipped you off to Guantanamo or another Trump "resort," it's probaby due to your Canadian spelling (centre, honour, colour, Sidney Crosby, Justin Bieber, etc.)
  11. Thanks for the info but unfortunate news from Lenox. I've been to the BC properties in Cohasset (faculty house) and Maine (environmental.) Didn't know whether Lawrence was added to the "campus" too.
  12. At least State of Concern if not State of Confusion.
  13. yes auditions (gross numbers and net numbers [contracted towards 154]) will tell whether Camp Cadet mid-season will work or not, no matter what the design. Pivot will be whether 2020 mms will be willing to sacrifice their $$$ to be part of what probably will be a several year process. Let the auditions begin. (other corps who have already started their process have been noticeably quite on all the various sites with almost no photos or commentary to date.) Of course, there is the case of Madison Scouts re-working their show in the mid-70's and coming back out amazingly on fire. But those other overage challengers they bested have all been eliminated, haven't they?
  14. BC is now in Lawrence? DCI schedule reall needs a rework already. Any news on a Tanglewood evening?
  15. but will they let Jim and Terri cross the border? into Canada? back into the US? Homeland Security may have been reading those posts on these threads with the stories...
  16. I've enjoyed it many times. I would have said numerous and left the waist size alone.
  17. I know you never brook anyone disagreeing with your decisions. The whole "camp week" is premised on excellent weather (non-controllable) unless one spends $$$ for an inside facility (which will rarely be available as it is when college football teams are in pre-season camps.) Your criticism of the previous season is not my dispute. Using the kids for administrative experimentation is where I differ with you. Although some of the new admin staff and BoD have been techs on championship faculties in far away season, none of them administered corps in championship seasons. And those who were administrators of corps were let go from where they were. Kids join the corps to perform, not to make a faculty member look good. I wonder how those eligible for auditions will be affected and to what level the corps will ultimately be effected. Those are not issues to be "let go."
  18. Since when DCI opened a front office back in the mid-70's, the Powers-that-Be at DCI have rarely shared the powers. Of course, besides what is written in rules, charters, and official books, there are always in human institutions the "deep" or "dark" government, the real decision makers who thumb up or down whatever others may vote in or out. Who these be is subject to some debate. I have a sense, no actual facts but a strong, educated intuitive feeling that this change in membership was done at advice of consultants and lawyers, accountants even.
  19. cf. Jeff Ream's response. Your defensiveness is not dialogical, King George II Of course, it's not like a ten day break is not going to cost $$$ (housing, feeding, renting of stadium, faculty travel expenses, etc.;) that is all out going expenses with no incoming (show credits and souvies) revenue. Only other corps following that approach this season are Seattle Cascades and Pacific Crest who both have more shows than Cadets. BD abandoned that approach several seasons back. This year BD is doing 6 more shows including championships.
  20. DCI has yet to go public with the '19 stats for paid attendance there and at Regionals and Indy last year. All we know "officially" is that the theater audience of Detroit was huge.
  21. Jersey Surf is slated for more shows that Cadets. Seems like Cadets' schedule returns to the olden days of First Tour, break (at home), Second Tour. Maybe it's Dartmouth H.S. band camp week, April's family vacation.................or Denise's week at Cape Cod???
  22. now listed as Syracuse. To a NYer, that's a difference. But to those outside the Empire (State), Rome to Utica to Syracuse, they are just neighborhoods of the same same sez this Downstater.
  23. Bluecoats - Canton, OH; Boston Crusaders - Boston, MA; Carolina Crown - Fort Mill, SC; The Cavaliers - Rosemont, IL; Santa Clara Vanguard - Santa Clara, CA; Phantom Regiment - Rockford, IL; Crossmen - San Antonio, TX; Colts - Dubuque, IA. no, not bad at all a few nights before Indy.
