    Boston Crusaders 2019

Nov. 23-24 is when the (said in my best Danny DeVito voice) the Youth/Utes of Utah have their first gathering of the 2019 Battlion (at Loveland H.S. home of the Crimson Regiment.) Pardon my lack of awareness of Utah geography. Utah is one of only four U.S. States I've yet to visit (the others being Nevada, Alaska, and Hawaii.) I'll gladly accept frequent flier donations.

What about a Guardsmen alumni corps? If you start eating the oatmeal now, you could have a full set of headgear by the time you step off in Indy!

    The Cavaliers 2019

Lugo's Logo on this is pretty snazzy or whatever the current Cali hipster board talk is. "Cavies 2019 Explore Gnarly" seems a natural theme for them after their macho shows of late. Now will Rosemont be offering the Crossmen guardsters a group flight discount for auditions?

section shorts and tees are usual camp wear. Now I've heard Loveland, Colorado called many things but Dixie was not one of them. The only place Loveland is South of is Ft. Collins.

well, Ferguson definitely will give them a lot of notes, A LOT of Notes. He seems to have had a great touch with the FE for Regiment; hopefully he can do the same with the battery.

No, Battalion will not give back The uniforms. Nice try Ghost.

I agree with everything you say except boxing people who like drill into the category of "visual addicts." To me, that is part of the current problem as Regiment tries to re-define and re-discover its identity in this time of a shift in what drum corps visuals and drill entail. Almost no corps did a drill show this season that was memorable for something new; the only outstanding drills or major parts thereof were re-hashes from the past (Troopers, Cadets, in some ways SCV if one knew where to look.) Now the enigmatic "staging" and props drive the show. Regiment has done poorly with both since the demise of Queen Joan. But the problem is larger than Regiment.

Both 27th and SCV alumni corps were several years in the planning and making stages.

    2019 Madison Scouts!

do you see this as a plus or negative? On one hand experience and exposure to many programs; OTOH perhaps new ideas, new approaches, different creativity

Well this convo isn't on target fully as BK just re-appointed Cadets' alum Chad Pence as brass caption head for '18 as he was for '17. In fact, his westward move to the Rocky Mt. state for the summer may be more involved, not less or east, as he handed over the band directorship he's had for four years at Ashley Ridge, SC to another BK horn tech, former Cadets' major Ben Pouncey, for the last several years assistant band director at cross-town Summerville H.S. Ashley is the name of the river going through those southern Charleston, S.C. suburbs and in the news of late with the overflow Florence floods. Maybe Chad had an inkling and sought higher ground in Colorado early? All the best to all.

noticed that a new poster called "willpitts" has been lurking through the DCP threads the recent evenings. Willcome.

    2019 Madison Scouts!

2 seasons ago. I don't think she was listed as being with them for the '18 season. Only saw her on the circuit at Finals when she presented the honors in memory of Gary.

Too bad BAC's excellent color guard disappeared so mysteriously into the waves of 2018. Hurricane Florence seems to have washed ashore a mermaid whose headgear would have been perfect for that disappearing guard.

It was the Royal Lancers corps from the other side of town. Refer to his speech of acceptance for the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame. DCP won't let me post the tube link.

Didn't he also march with the Stratford CT Conn. Yankees* after St. Ann's ceased? I seem to remember him being featured in a photo of the CT Post newspaper who printed a review of past CT area corps ahead of a Barnum Festival or other DCA show in Bridgeport. Maybe we should check with Mr. Alisko over on the DCA thread. DCI never featured Cliff because he wasn't too keen on some of the changes in the activity according to the article. He's been a big proponent of more technical education even before STEAM and STEM models became the rage. *from the other side of town, The Royal Lancers. (In his World Hall of Fame speech, John quotes both Royal Lancers and St. Anns's for teaching him teamwork.)

Darcie is very creative and methodical if one uses her programs with Dartmouth percussion, guard, and in some way their marching band as a yardstick. Her imaginative use of talent and concept for the indoor programs engages both audience and adjudicators. Kudos for the add.

I give Brasso a +2 for looking ahead into his crystal ball and noticing that most synths and electric pianos have cymbal crashes and other nuances easily programmed into their electronic "music." What is and what will soon be are not too far apart. Of course, all this may just be a marketing ploy to shake-down Zildjian, Sabian, and Paiste for larger donations for DCI, BOA, and wherever the designers want to put their imprint, not the mms.

    Carolina Crown 2019

Bouncing a few ideas around in my empty head. CC on their FB was looking Friday for volunteers (before Florence) to fold 1500 tee shirts new to their warehouse. Here's the idea: what if DCPers and DCIers bought some of these shirts (already in Carolina) designating them to be donated to people in Carolina who have lost everything in the Florence floods?! Crown has Crown Cares already. Here's another chance. Buying the shirts from the corps helps the corps ($$$,) would help the flood victims, and would make drum corps look even greater. Just an idea as I search my wallet.
