  1. Forest City, the Blue Stars’ spring training site, has a sound ordinance beginning at 9. To stay productive the 9-10 block is usually an “option block”, rehearsal time that has to stay quiet. When I marched we used this time to learn visuals, learn prop stuff, stretch, clean horns, uniform stuff, etc. Having seen Option Block on the board this season, I bet the staff is having fun with the names this year.
  2. If I remember correctly, Morningside usually hosts free events, covering the costs of each seat to have people at their events, spreading publicity for the college.
  3. If I remember the story correctly, on a free day the DM at the time saw a ton of the coins at a shop, and bought them all. The coins that get handed out today are from the same 'roll' that was first bought.
  4. The coins are from British West Africa, which come with the hole and also have a Star of David on one side. You get a white bead for your rookie year, with the coin's star side on the left of the bead. You then get blue beads for your vet years, and red is for your age-out. In addition, members of the 2014 corps recieved and additional 50 piece yen coin, to remember the 50th Annicersary. The yen piece goes to the right of the red bead, with the 50 facing the bead. Rook-outs only recieve the red bead.
  5. Blue Stars hold Spring Training at Waldorf College in Forrest City, Iowa.
