  1. I agree with this 100%. Will the level of performance get to where it needs to be is the question. The design is a solid one.
  2. Disagree. Show is exactly what the title says. If anything, remove some of the literal expressions. It's a very good show bordering on fantastic with some tweaks and a ton of cleaning.
  3. They decided to remove some of the narration and the Jesus references. REMOVING stuff is what everyone here was asking for so....
  4. That's the plan. It may work finally!
  5. Not cheese. Color, fabric, majestic, gold, bright, get out of your dam seats and clap. Cadets do everything literally. That's their style. It's big, bold and maybe this time it will work.
  6. Agreed. Crown really has its act together. I'm not in love with this show or 2016 BUT they perform the hell out of their shows. I really am shocked they don't easily win VP and brass every show. And kudos for fixing the one weak link in captions.... percussion. They're up there with the best.
  7. MAYBE I AM JUST A HOMER BUT I still think the show is "this much" away from being awesome and still think the opportunity exists for them to make the correct small adjustments.... cut some narration here, take out a crooked company front there, clean clean clean and maybe stay over a hot Boston and pop Cavies. Until it's over, I'll keep pushing for my team.
  8. The changes are in. Most good. Some cheese can be removed (narration, tarp) but the real issue is performance levels. They need to work the Brass on quality control, clean the marching, clean the percussion, clean the guard. CLEAN, REFINE, CLARIFY. DO NOT ADD. The show is good but performance levels were probably lowest of the night.
  9. IDK. I see messy props with every group. Because Cadets aren't scoring 85, we start picking at logistics. I think they need to agree their design changes are in and just clean as much as possible. Their captions (guard, percussion and especially brass) are low. Clean to max those and probably get a GE boost too.
  10. Agree. When a corps scores well, everything is looked at as art. When a corps isn't scoring as well, we "see" many faults. It's art/design. Cadets need to CLEAN at this point. They basically tied Cavies in effect. Time to get caption scores up. The clock is ticking.
  11. Agreed. It's a huge WOW effect missed. If they have the TBone players/tubas de-robe before they jump up on pews while the stage right brass emerge from behind props, it's more of a pop. Looking for minimal "rewrites of drill". Young corps, need to really spend rest of season cleaning.
  12. I would love to see Cadets close the gap on Cavies. If for nothing else, create even more drama in this crazy season. It was 2 points last time they met.
  13. Cadets have become very "literal" in their design and that's fine with me. Everyone has a style. As long as they get the captions solid, clean the program, I'm very happy with the corps. It's a very enjoyable show visually and musically and I can't say that about every group above them this year.
  14. Seriously he's been an awful judge to Cadets guard which is pretty solid this year IMO.
  15. Could be. And Bloo may not medal. It's a crazy season indeed! If the tea leaves can be read at this stage, SCV golds, BD silvers and its between Crown and Bloo for bronze.
  16. Crazy season.... so WHO DOESNT MEDAL... Crown or BLOO?
  17. Cadets had no electronics last night. Nothing cleared that front wall. The judges were gracious enough to give them the score they got! Logistics gang. If you're going to employ electronics, mics and choirs, you'll need to be understand the variabilities of different venues and adjust.
  18. Wow Boston is on fire! Those scores look to me as if Cavies and even Crown better adjust their rear view mirrors. Going to be very interesting in the next few weeks. Boy I underestimated them. Eating Crow as I type. Where did that "eating Crow" term even come from?
  19. Hmmm, but if you are more likely to get the benefit of the doubt early season, we start to approach regionals and it's probably harder to get high percussion if you have 5 more corps that follow you. You add full panels and each judge has you up 0.1 "well the staff is so good, I guess that line is supposed to be jagged" and you've 2 pointed another group. I think in the end, the correct group wins and probably the top 3 should be the top 3 but the journey can sometimes be baffling.
  20. So agree. BD gets away with so much. Sloppy props, visual transitions that are awful but "coming soon" . Endings "to come". But when your captions are super strong, even design flaws or not yet in place, are scored well because they earn the points on excellence and performance. They know how to play the game and consistency earns you the benefit of the doubt for sure.
