  1. I think they really intended to get show done by last weekend (ending and fixing Father almighty, where they just have too much standing around doing nothing) and possibly would have been a bit closer competitively than they were. Lots of rain and BS set them back but they I think it's on the field now and have a few off days to work it. They still can clean up pretty good. Lots of the music issues (percussion) are not performance based but "choir is too loud" "I can't hear the pit", so lists of adjustments but not hearing negative show construction stuff, just "you're starting us in a journey and dumping us off before it ends" kinds of stuff. I'm keeping the faith because unlike last season, when I watch n listen to this show, I'm like "yes they're good!"
  2. Don't tell that to Cadets just yet.
  3. Cadets are having a "bad week" but they can finish their show and devout the rest of season to cleaning and have "good weeks" later. Most groups will start putting in changes in and will stagnate for a few days until they return to their cleaning phases. I honestly think this show is too good to be ranked where it is currently. BUT I would forgo beach days for Cadets. IMO
  4. It's certainly not been a good week for Cadets. Gaps in front opening and gaps behind shrinking. Cadets certainly need to get their ending in, and clean. The Cadets will either start to soar or will be overcome by BAC. Not sure why Cadets are not scoring MUCH better. Honestly I would have them I over Cavies even now without changes but still believe they will gain momentum in about 2 weeks. The show is two thoughtful to not do well competitively and I've seen everyone else so im not saying this in a vacuum.
  5. Not to drag up past history but look at the #### several top corps have on the field this year (props) and are scoring well and revisit the judging community for anihilating Cadets in Visual Proficiency 4 seasons ago!
  6. Yep. Cadets need to practice. Disney yesterday, a great time by all I heard. Cadets decided schedule of when to learn new ending and now they're in that period of learning and not cleaning so we need to really get through these next few days. Once it's all in and we're just cleaning/refining, good things should start to happen (in theory anyway).
  7. Cadets should be fine. They really need to finish the changes and then spend weeks to clean. I wouldn't say they are in last year's position in that I think the show is pretty strong BUT from an EFFECT standpoint, an incomplete ending isn't helpful. Once that's in, they can dig in and just clean. They seem to clean up fast.
  8. pCOCK, I said he wasn't making excuses but rather elaborating on the scenario of 2 hour rain delays on show readiness and how they need to better prepare for it.
  9. GH said it was a bad run on all fronts. Blamed some of it on the kids having to move the heavy props back n forth several times and yes he blamed himself for not motivating them when he saw the fatigue setting in. BUT Crown and Cavies had to endure the same multi hour delay so he wasn't making excuses.
  10. I don't think show order has much to do with scoring. Maybe in a large regional the judges have their work cut out for them but not tonight with this line up.
  11. Not saying scores change, but it does add to fatigue and certainly inconvenience for food truck, traveling to next show etc.
  12. I think at least one from last year's top 3 drop out. Maybe too early to tell who it will be. SCV certainly is making the push to be the new one into top 3 AT THIS JUNCTURE. Lets see where we are in two weeks.
  13. The changes made were positive because the show is solid design wise. Visual, drill, concept. As far as brass, I'll wait until a confirmed "replacement" is announced. As far as your donation, I'm a supporter through thick and thin. That's just how I roll.
  14. You're morphing 8 months of events into one sentence. Darryl was replaced by Bobby Jones (who's doing a great job) back in the fall, Sal Salas only has/had a limited consulting role as which Sully also has. The Brass change may be only new change.
  15. For now. One can't assume every group will achieve stellar performances levels.
  16. Hoping no delays tonight! Felt bad for last 3 groups last night. Really can break your momentum.
  17. If this were last week in July yes, I just think Crown is performing the heck out of their show. Again, they may make adjustments and be fine but I don't think this current version will take them to a medal in August.
  18. Lots of Cadets issues are still cleaning feet. They are redoing the back 2 min so that can be slowing them down a little. All groups do their add ins at different times. I think it's still early enough so by the time they debut finished product, still have weeks to clean. They're still capable of a better performance than last night. Can't let delays throw you.
  19. Design wise, I think they felt the Disney everyone likes us bubblegum/popcorn style ran its course and for them to contend again, they'd have to go deeper and more intellectual. Funny because Bloo won with the opposite last year. From a creative standpoint, Crown was getting very redundant so I applaud them for starting the process of reevaluating design. Luckily they have the mm talent to keep a 5-6 place design in 4th this year.
  20. One could say the groups that had to wait 2 hours to perform were kind of jilted. Tough for performers to warm up and then have long delays. Kudos to Crown for not letting it affect them. Very mature group there.
  21. I Still think Crown is winning on high performance levels. Haven't seen the other two yet but saw Crown. Still think the show is problematic.
  22. Cadets still 2+ points out from Crown with full panels in place. May still need some second views from some judges. One EFFECT guy had them close to Crown, another way down. No glaring deficiencies from Cadets just down a little in everything becomes 2points. Cadets have opened up spread over Boston and closed one over Cavies so they are wiggling around but right now Bloo, BD, Crown are in the 79 range so there are your preliminary medalists. Cadets must continue to work hard and smart. We need either percussion or guard to shine. Will need one super category. Word is Cadets had sloppy guard run. No time for off runs.
  23. I mean in a glitzy tacky vegas way. And it's a style and working for them! You seem to always be fishing for a ruckus...
