  1. Could someone rite a detailed review of this show? Did Brigs have an "off-nite" or are cabs just that good? I have never been more pumped to watch a prelims- finals weekend!!
  2. 1988 SCV....at the end when the corps dissapeared....whew!! I actually was crying watching it. People talk of 1987 Garfield as innovative, etc... That show was wonderful, but 1988 SCV was one of the greatest General Effect shows i've ever seen. (honerable mention)....1990 Blue Devils..last 10 seconds BIG GOOSE BUMPS! 1995 Cavaliers drill..."how are they doing that AND playing at the same time?" 1991 Star of Indiana....last 20 seconds or so when they took the cross then (mayhem)put the cross on the other side of the field all at around 200 bps!! If I think of any others, ill post them as well.
  3. I think some of the cleanest DCA lines I have heard was from the mid 90's. Bushwackers had some outstanding lines that made me shake my head! Recently I would say Minn Brass, Buccaneers and Brigadiers have had the cleanest lines. VOTE AT WILL!!!
  4. This is so funny to me. In DCI, you have all these great drumlines, but only ONE judge to have to decide everything. In DCA, there are two drum judges: one on the field, and one in the stands, just like it should be. Also, if you crazed fans of DCI haven't noticed yet, DCA is using a great scoring system this year: The scores goes out to the thousands place instead of the typical hundreths. Major reason for this in my opinion is so to assure there will never be any TIES in finals ever again! Once again, DCA has proven to be cutting edge.
  5. I really enjoyed your review of the show EXCEPT for when I got to your explanation of the Cabs which I agree with, BUT I think your going a little bit off the deep end with the Brigs. I have been to all their championship performances and they deserve to win each time. They have set the bar very high just like Bushwackers of the 90's did. In my opinion, when you write a review, it's ok to be critical but when it sounds like you march with the Cabs, that's not good. Hey, nothing wrong with being clean. Who cares if you are running around for 11 minutes, or if your forms are simple BUT crystal clean? I personally would rather see the latter. I am a big fan of Cabs, and in my opinion I hope they win IF THEY DERSERVE TO! I will be the first to stand up and cheer them if they beat Brigs. I am NOT a fan of the Cabs musical selections each year beacuse how many times can you do a Latin show? Rump-chump is cool for DCA because it gets the older alumni and older fans to stand up and cheer, BUT times move forward and hearing them play it NO MATTER WHERE THEY PUT IT IN THE SHOW, is to me boring, same ole same ole just a different year. Where as Brigs play a different show every year, always pushing the envelope. Look at most of the drumlines in DCI.......when you watch them warm-up, they blow you away, but when it comes to the BOOK, dirt simple most of the time. I marched senior corps for 14 years and we were in smaller drumlines that played more than the bigger corps, but never got the credit for it. In the judges mind they just want to hear a clean balanced line. If you play the hard stuff and its clean, great, but don't chide Brigs for having a "simple" drum book(in your opinion). I think most people would like to see Cabs win this year for a number of reasons. I know You will not agree with me saying this, BUT I know DCA enough to know that if the 2 corps are even they will most likely give it to the cabs.....what better front page story on the cover of Drum corps World..."Cabelleros defeat Brigs to win their 9th title, Jimmy Russo retries on TOP!" That is a great story. politics may become involved. Jimmy has been a great ambassador for drum corps for like 35 years. I think he is GREAT at what he does, and DCA will surly miss him. I think finals will be jam packed to see if Jimmy can lead his corps to the title in his retirement year. I'm excitied to see what will transpire at finals. I hope that the best corps wins for what they do on the field and not politically swayed. Sorry i am rambling and Ive kinda got off the topic. Bottom line, when you write a review, try to remain un-biased as possible.
