I'm auditioning on trumpet next year and I was wondering what tour is like. Specifically, are boys and girls separated the whole time? What are buses like (who do you sit with and where do you sleep etc)? Is it one of those things where it's brutal while you're doing it but good memories afterward, or is it a really great experience while you're there?

I wish to join SCVC in 2017. I was wondering if video auditions are usually successful or if they are frowned upon. I was also wondering how much the total cost of marching open class would be (camp fees, audition materials and tour fees). Thank you all so much!

I've always wondered so I figured I'd ask: is size usually a factor when deciding who to contract for world class drum corps? Is there a particular height or weight that's considered ideal? For instance, would someone small or thin have less of a chance at making hornline (even if they're remarkably fit)? I've always been curious, as most people in drum corps appear to be mostly of the same figure. Maybe it's all the working out.

I've started the process of switching over to trumpet. I was wondering how difficult it would be to join the nearest drum corps on trumpet when I switched over. I've heard stories about people making it in with less than a year of experience on a new instrument, but they were all mellos and euphs.
